Great synagogue

Visiting Rome Oct 2-4. We are planning on going to the Jewish neighborhood and want to get tickets to the synagogue. Is this something we can buy when we get there, or do we really need to get tickets in advance. Thank you!

Luxury resort for big birthday

Hi. I’ve got a big birthday coming up in the winter and one thing I’m thinking of is a really nice ski on ski off lodge for a long weekend (not holiday, just to take off a day extra) but driving distance from NYC. We will be 2 Gen X parents and 2 Gen Z adult (over 21) kids. Two of us have epic passes. I have knee issues so need greens or light blues even though I’m generally a much stronger skier. One kid doesn’t love skiing but can do greens and blues. The epic pass holders are experts. My gut says Stowe but I’m just curious if there’s somewhere I’m missing. I’m ok with non-epic for this weekend. Nice hotel or resort a priority for a non ski day potentially. Thanks!!🙏

Ideas for stay near Modena/Bologna?

Hi. 2 adults early October. We are first in Rome and Florence, and then heading to a farmhouse in Tuscany for the night. Fatorria poggio allora. We will have a car. We are heading to Venice ultimately, and have another night for a stop over. Modena was suggested to us- we are wondering if we should stay in Modena itself or on the outskirts. Since we are primarily staying in cities my gut says countryside vs another city but if there’s a reason not to do that, I’d like to know. Or if there’s another region in that vicinity that you’d recommend! We are open to really anything. We are experienced travelers and (especially me) get antsy staying in one place so I like to be on the move- staying one night then one night somewhere else is totally fine for me!

Day trip to lake Como from Milan?

We are two adults who will be in Milan in early October. We arrive in Milan in the morning from Venice and have tickets for La Scala at 8 pm the following night. We leave the following morning to go home. Is it insane to try to go to Lake Como for the day? Budget is not really an issue in terms of transportation. We can take the train or hire a car. Thank you!

Visiting Rome in October

Hello. We will be visiting Italy in October from the USA and are now booking some visits. 2 adults. We will arrive on a Saturday morning and will have the full day on Sunday and I guess that Saturday, and half day on Monday. It doesn’t appear everything is closed on Sundays- I’d like to book the Vatican and Coliseum. I would think as late as possible for the Vatican just in case of delays since we can only go on the day we arrive. Any advice for what time and which sort of tour? I know to only book on the official site. Thank you! I was in Rome before, but as a student like 30 years ago.

Montauk restaurant recommendation

Hi. Looking for restaurant recs for a Saturday night. Larger group, no kids but some very elderly people, so no restaurants that don’t take reservations, and nothing too loud or difficult to navigate. Any price point and cuisine. Thank you! Loved the Inlet in the past but they no longer take reservations. TIA (to add- not for this weekend, I have time for this reservation. I’m very familiar with Montauk in general but the places I usually go to won’t work for these elderly people and I’m just casting a wide net)

So I’m a parent and this isn’t my first college graduate (and I know lots of kids who graduated from colleges). I’m very surprised that the only graduation is the big one in the Shoe, there is no accommodation for inclement weather, etc. and they don’t call names but…you also can’t sit with your friends?!?! If they are going to have a huge football stadium graduation (I get it) at the very least you should be able to sit with your friends. They should divide them up like other universities. They could have indoor ceremonies at the Schott or something. Do better!
