Help Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter

Help Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter

YVAS posted this yesterday and it would've completely flown under my radar if my mom hadn't sent it, so I wanted to try to get the word out there.

Please read their article but to sum it up from what I understand, the City of Billings is discontinuing their partnership with YVAS and opening their own shelter because YVAS needs more reimbursement due (at least in part) to the meth incident. This means that YVAS will have to turn away lost and stray animals or try to hold them with no reimbursement from the city. They do say that they will still be providing boarding for lost and stray animals through the 4th of July weekend, which I appreciate so much as someone who's had and currently has pets afraid of fireworks.

The shelter is asking the community to contact our council members and the mayor and they include ways to contact them in the article.

Considering the fact that the city thought it was a reasonable idea to burn meth in an animal shelter, I personally don't trust that they would be able to manage a shelter well and I want to do anything I can to help.

Please spread the word and contact officials if you're able! Here is a link to their "ways to give" page if anyone wants to help in a more material way.

Edit: Here's some information on the city's new shelter. They're asking people not to bring stray animals to them for the time being and to instead care for them at home or take them to the other shelters in town.

Shayne came to our party!

Last night I hosted a going away party for one of my best friends. During the planning stage of the party, I kept sending her screenshots of the guest list in my notes app and in every single screenshot, Shayne was hovering beside the list in YouTube picture-in-picture. So we had a running joke that Shayne was invited to the party and I secretly assigned our other bestie a mission to get him to the party for real.

She succeeded.

I've attached photo evidence of him sitting at our photo op and posing with his maker, u/Stinky_Say . (Unfortunately, the friend who's leaving has influencer relatives so she doesn't want to be posted.) There are now multiple Polaroids of Shayne with random people who have never even heard of him floating out in the world.

Thank you so much for coming Shayne!

Might be posting some updates on his travels to Idaho in the future, so stay tuned :)
