And how would you go about fixing it?

So I walk this park all the time… over a decade… and many trees… huuuge trees have these roots clearly growing over their roots… do they not have any impact because the trees are so massive when they get “girdled”? Is this girdling killing these trees in any way? Is this not “really girdling”? I have no plan to remove or touch them, just curious why some have issues (that I see on this sub) and some don’t (these massive trees)…
