CF folks from Bangalore do we have a community ?
Saw a recent poll and surprisingly, a lot of people on this sub are from Bangalore, more than Mumbai or Delhi
Is there any active community for CF people from Bangalore ? if yes then do share, if not let's make one where we can have regular meetups and convos
I'm planning to do something for this in upcoming 2-3 days if you are interested reach out to me, since I'm a working professional I'll need help of 2-3 people to moderate the community properly so we only let verified users into our community and try to keep a balanced male to female ratio so that the community doesn't become too skewed
Feeling stuck about GATE 2027
Hi everyone, I come from a CS background and GATE 2026 was my third attempt. I’m honestly feeling quite confused about what to do next, so I wanted some genuine advice.
A little background:
I first gave GATE in 2024 during my 3rd year of college. I had done almost no dedicated preparation — just relied on whatever I had studied in college — and ended up getting around a 380 score.
For GATE 2025, I started preparing seriously. Things were going well initially, but then placement season began and I got an internship at a company with a very toxic work culture. During the last 2–3 months before the exam, I completely lost focus. I also cracked under performance pressure during the paper and attempted too many questions I wasn’t sure about, which led to around 16 marks lost in negative marking. I ended up with a score around 350.
Then came GATE 2026, which was honestly the most unexpected one. By that time I had switched jobs and was extremely busy with work. I had practically stopped preparing and had zero expectations from the exam. In fact, I was so occupied that I almost forgot about the exam until the morning of the paper itself. I just went in, attempted whatever I could remember, and somehow ended up scoring 505.
Now I’m stuck trying to figure out what to do next.
Currently, I’m working at a company that pays decently (close to 50k/month), but it’s a 5-day WFO setup and I’m already trying for a switch. At the same time, I’ve always had a long-term plan of working in India for 2–3 years, building some savings and experience, and then moving to Europe for a master’s and eventually settling there.
But after this GATE result, people around me are suggesting different things:
- join an NIT now with this score,
- prepare seriously for GATE 2027,
- or continue working and focus on industry growth instead.
The problem is that, honestly speaking, I don’t really see myself pursuing an M.Tech from an NIT. If I decide to do a master’s in India, I feel like I’d only want to do it from an IIT. But I genuinely don’t know whether jumping from a ~500 score to 780+ while handling a full-time job is realistically possible within the next attempt.
Another thing that worries me is the financial and lifestyle aspect. Right now I’m earning close to 50k/month, and after becoming financially independent, the idea of going back to student life feels difficult. There’s also the concern about the growing gap between my bachelor’s and a future master’s degree.
So I’d really appreciate some honest suggestions from people who’ve been in similar situations:
- Should I continue working and aim for Europe later?
- Should I prepare seriously for GATE 2027 one last time alongside my job?
- Or should I take admission somewhere now and not overthink the “IIT only” mindset?
Would love to hear practical opinions rather than motivational advice.

My best friend has decided to fall into this black hole and I cannot do anything about this
My best friend is currently with a guy in a LDR for more than a year, their relationship is kinda toxic, they abuse each other, they fight regularly and they were on the verge of breaking up 2-3 times but the guy either shows up to her house or sends some gift and makes things normal
But the issue is the guy is ultra possessive, he doesn't look or think before doing anything, ended up beating the shit out of someone one day because a guy was talking to her
And the girl is blindly in love with this guy because she had a traumatic relationship before and this guy came for her like a messiah
From what I have talked to her she's not looking for marriage right now, she's 25 and her timeline is 30-31 but the guy is forcing her to get married, she is dating for more than a year and she hasn't told anyone in her family about this meanwhile the guy's entire family and friend group knows and follows her even notices her every single action on IG (eg. She posted a story of drinking sometime ago but deleted it in less than an hour)
The guy is going for his master's abroad sometime and she's thinking of marrying him and going with him
From my honest opinion this relationship is not built on something sustainable, in LDRs stakes become high to showing up becomes huge but when they'll share the same house I don't think this will last and from the guy's actions I'm really scared for her
Will it go to 7th, 8th and 9th ? But then what if Chelsea wins the FA Cup and palace wins the conference league ?
How are the spots being allotted to the teams for 2nd and 3rd tier competition ?
