Simple Magbase mod for Maglite Solitaire

Simple Magbase mod for Maglite Solitaire

Nothing too exciting here, but I thought I'd share what I made. I like the maglite solitaire for its simplicity and super small size, but I wanted to have a magnetic base on it to add a bit of functionality. Not finding any real options for this I decided to just make one myself.

As the title says this is super simple, yet works really well for me. It's just just a 3D printed "ring" with two different sizes. One end is sized to for the Maglite and just press fits on the back. The other end is sized for these magnets I found on Amazon and two of them press fit into that end.

The beauty here, at least for me, is that the end works really nice as a "stopper" for slotting into my EDC pouch so works good for that. It's also complete removable if necessary. In a pinch with the hole in the magnets I could slip a string in there and use it to try and get something metal out of a tight space.

Here's a imgur gallery if you want to see more pictures.

I decided to make two custom knives for myself for EDC. You can check out the full story of why I created these knives, along with some more pictures here: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,95107.0.html

But the short version is that my current EDC was starting to get old and worn, so I was looking for a replacement. I was also of the opinion that it would be very handy, at times, to have the pliers NOT on the same body as the drivers. But carrying two SAKs just to have pliers on one and some drivers on another would end up with two biggish knives with lots of overlap... so I decided to try my hand as some custom knives to minimize the overlap of tools.

I'm pretty happy with the results!
