Since when are non-EU/EEA cards blocked from EU-product?

I remember the time when we could use ANY card, including personal US credit cards, business US credit cards, pre-paid cards, and whatnot. The the commission for using credit cards was introduced, ok fine.

Now I'm trying to add my card that presents itself as a Visa credit with a Hong Kong BIN and I'm getting a refusal. Any ideas as to why? It works perfectly with Google Pay and Apple Pay.

ByBit card problem

I have a ByBit card and it works fine with Google, Paypal, online, and in stores (I got both virtual and physical). But two places I routinely get an FU are Curve and OpenAI. Wierd.
