I can't find the sweet spot, advice needed
I'd like to share some info before:
I've about 30 sessions of experience, however I'm still a beginner, I am 186cm tall and weigh 90kg (at about 10% body fat, so almost muscle due to the gym and athletic life style with many sport practiced)
My home spot is on the lake where there's wind in the range of 8 to 20kn and a terrible chop of about 20-30cm every 1-2m distance between the waves
My gear is a Duotone Sky Start 2025 155lt, a fanatic Aero Lift 2400 with 82cm mast which I use also with my new Duotone Free 2.0 1900, wings are a Duotone Unit SLS 2025 5.5m and a North Loft Pro 2024 8.0m
In today session I had about 14kn of wind with 20cm chop, used the sky start 155lt, the free 2.0 1900 with its px260 stab, and the north 8m wing.
Until 13 kn I almost couldn't lift (I can pump with arms but not yet with legs) also on borad reach, but once wind picked up at 14-15kn (almost top end limit for the north loft pro 8m that I've been able to hold thanks to climbing muscles in my arms) the board would lift but at that point no matter how much weight I would load on my front foot (still in broad reach) I couldn't flatten the board that slowly but suddenly breached and slammed back on the water. This same exact behavior happened many times, very difficult to lift and once in air I couldn't stop it.
I've tweaked a lot the mast position trying all the possible positions, however if put back I don't lift, if in front the time to breach reduces meaning that I can achieve less fly time because lift is too aggressive.
What I experience is a sort of black/white without the gray in between where I can't seem to lift untill then I finally detach from water and at that point it keeps going up but without possibility to spot it, or better, I can stop it by loading full 90kg on the front foot and the board slams on the water or if I depower (tried various percentages and possibilities of depowering) but at that point I go instantly back on water as I don't have enough power to stay in flight.
with the aero lift 2400 I had the same issue, I bought the free 2.0 1900 thinking that the aero lift 2400 was way too overpowered for me, the fact is that I can lift at lower speeds and this is appreciated, however once I start to lift 2 things happen it ventilates and becomes really unstable (a lot of turbolence due to the power) or it starts to lift and I can't stop it. the time to breach of the 2400 is even shorter as it goes full in with the power and the lift is brutal
So I thought that the 1900 would be more gradual, and yes it is, but I need to go faster to lift, so less lifting opportunities in a choppy lake and however still lifts me too much because looks like once in air I am too overpowered.
the 2400 I can lift it with both 8m wing at 10kn and 5.5m wind at >15kn wind
the 1900 I couldn't manage to lift it with the 5.5 as at 15kn I couldn't do it and I did it with the 8m at >13kn
My feet position (I forgot to talk about them till now sorry), I don't use straps and position my front foot in the strap position and the back foot in front of the back strap position, sometimes in the strap position because due to chop I need more stability.
So to resume it I feel like it's an on/off switch I don't have enough power to fly and once I fly I have too much power and mast positioning, body positioning, foil changing, wing changing didn't solve this problem.
If once in flight to stabilize the foil i lean on the wing and go a bit upwind it's even worse as the pressure on the front foot is unbearable and the breach happens in a shorter time, 2-3 seconds instead of 5-6 seconds.
I don't know if it's at this point something related to me but seeing other people (beginners) fly with a lot of delicacy and time to move/act, while to me seems something I really can't find all the grey area of management they have.
I hope someone can give me some hints because frustration is starting to kick in and I think I've tried almost everything possible for my body and the gear I have.
