Replacing broken gear in Kenmore 148.12180

I thought these were supposed to be all metal, but mine has one plastic gear, and it is broken, making my machine unusable.

I have removed what I can see to remove to access it, but I cannot tell how to get it off so I can replace it. I know there are 3d printing patterns for the part, so clearly people do this, but I haven’t been able to find videos or posts about one situated like mine is.

Only the top, bottom, and left side of the machine open or come off, so my access points are limited.

Also, if I can fix this and it going again, how do I prevent this from happening again?

MAC RIP

I once had a cat named Macintosh (Mac for short) who is sadly now dead, but I don’t know what else this could be referring to.

Rest in Peace, Mac computers?
A reference to an epic fart post-Mac and cheese?

MANCHLD

Awareness is the first step? Or he lost a bet.

The sticker on the back window says “FREEDOM,” and the plate frame says Tennessee Titans. Nampa, Idaho.
