FINALLY

Got the call yesterday while at work, got to the hospital lastnight, transplanted this morning at 8am. This year was rough after having to switch to hemo from pd after 6 years. I had my fistula surgery scheduled for next week and I was really starting to feel down in the dumps. So keep your head up yall! If your on the list, it WILL happen!

Not necessarily beauty, butttt

I work on my feet and slathered this on them last night afterwards. There’s an immediate cooling feeling that was just delightful! So all my other service industry folks, grab this!

Fistula surgery experiences

Hi! I had to switch to hemo after back to back peritonitis. I have found I prefer doing in center and am going to stick with it til transplant, which will hopefully happen within the year (ive had a call so i feel like i’m up there on the list after 6 years of pd)
My CVC is in a very annoying spot, like on my shoulder right where my bra strap sits. It’s super annoying, itchy all the time, but I take good care of it. I’m hesitant to get the fistula because I bartend and need the use of my hands. Everyone I evesdrop on in center makes it seem like fistula surgery, and having one, is terrible! I hear stories of numbness and being unable to use the arm, which would be pretty bad for me. I’m wondering what others have experienced, especially those who are still active (regularly working out or doing physical jobs) while on dialysis. Thank you!

Buying dried herbs!

Hi hi! I’m looking for dried hibiscus, nettle, and rosehips to make a tea, anyone know where I can purchase? I’m in kirkwood, so the closer to that neck of the woods, the better! Thanks in advance!

issue with cvc low flow

I've only had my cvc for a little over a month and it has essentially stopped working. Today I had to lay with my head in a specific way for all 5 hours and anytime I yawned or moved the low flow alarm would go off. For some reason, the vascular surgeon put it directly on top of my shoulder, right where my bra strap sits, so I'm assuming it got kinked from the pressure of me holding things, my bra, or from having sex with my boyfriend. I asked if I should go to the emergency room and the nurses and techs just told me to call the surgeons office on Monday. Has this happened to anyone else? The nurses say they've never seen one in that location before, which is so annoying because it really is inconvenient and hard to hide. I have an important job interview this week and I'm praying they don't admit me to the hospital again because when I initially had it put in and my cath removed (peritonitis), I was in the hospital for 5 days! I have to go back to work, my savings are running very thin. If this has happened to you before, what steps did they take to check it out? Part of me wants a new one on my chest, where every other patient I have seen has theirs, but I really don't want to go through the healing again when I'm actively trying to go on job interviews. Thanks in advance!
