Factory reset NVR to clear old installer's Hik-Connect binding?

Inherited a Hikvision system with the office. Wanted remote access, but the NVR was bound to the previous installer's Hik-Connect account (they've vanished). To try and clear it I did a full factory reset on the NVR — which didn't unbind it (it's server-side), and now the NVR can't talk to its own cameras. Yeah rookie mistake i know..

I have full admin access and the NVR password (set during the reset). The 6 PoE cameras still hold the old installer password, so the NVR can't authenticate to them. I don't have that password and no way to get it.

Kit:

  • NVR: DS-7608NI-K2/8P, firmware V3.4.103 build 181226
  • 6x cameras on the NVR's own PoE ports, reporting only as "HIKVISION" protocol (NVR doesn't show the model — can read off a label if needed)
  • Cameras powered and detected, just won't authenticate

Tried on the NVR: one-touch activate (says no camera to activate), delete (can't — PoE plug-and-play), manual entry with my password (→ "Network Abnormal"), switched to plug-and-play (→ still "Network Abnormal"). No Virtual Host option in this firmware's menus.

Question: how do I reset the cameras so they'll re-adopt with the NVR's password? I have tried to access SADP.. but for some reason it won't run on my PC>.. just says install error. anyway please please help - so wish i hadn't done the reset now :-|
