My friend Jordan from Barbados was a foreign fighter and died, this was erected in his memory, and I only know it’s in Maiden Square. Does anyone know where this is specifically or have any information on it? I’m in US and have no idea. I didn’t take picture
In the West we are taught Hitler, fascism and his party were irredeemably evil, and we have a clear anti Nazi picture of that period. Which makes sense since we fought them. But Portugal and Spain up until the mid 70s were ruled by the same people who were themselves allied, or at least tacitly aligned with the Axis powers. How were they viewed post war? Good guys? Bad guys? It’s complicated?
