Grout washing away, how to repair and prevent from happening again

Grout in the front walkway has less and less every time it rains. It’s probably 30 years old I would guess. I would imagine materials have become stronger since then. What’s the best way to come about repairing this so that it lasts?

Beautiful custom table less than 10 years old has seen better days. The top is so swirly and there are some pretty nice sized chips in it. I have the tools I would imagine I’d need, am pretty skilled with some general directions and plenty patient.

The chips are only on one leaf, no clue what color stain/finish was used either.

What’s the best way to come at this and what do I need to be cognizant of during the process? Would like to restore the top to the near mirror like finish it had originally. Thanks!

ETA: spoke to builder, the stain is “light walnut” and was lacquered
