I’ve been researching SB01-057 Base SR (Bulma & Kid Goku) for the last several weeks, and the more I dig into it, the more I think this card deserves more attention than it’s getting.
I’m not saying it’s going to be worth hundreds of dollars.
I’m simply asking whether the market has fully priced in what this card actually represents.
My Thesis
I think SB01-057 has several things working in its favor:
It represents the beginning of Dragon Ball.
It comes from a commemorative 40th Anniversary set.
It uses Toriyama’s manga artwork.
It received premium treatment despite being a base SR.
It has multiple prestige variants built around the same artwork.
Supply appears tighter than many people expected.
Could I be wrong?
Absolutely.
Maybe the market has already priced all of this in.
Maybe more copies come out over time.
Maybe Fusion World slows down.
Those are all real possibilities.
I’m simply sharing the research I’ve gathered because I found it interesting.
I’m curious what the community thinks.
Am I overlooking something?
Has anyone else noticed SB01-057 separating itself from the other base SRs?
Has anyone seen distributor allocation information or additional case-opening data that could help understand the overall supply?
I’d love to hear other collectors’ perspectives.
