NS and the 9 September strike

Our group of four booked the sleeper train to Salzburg on 9 September with a return ticket a few days later. Quite costly. According to our tickets we can cancel the (return) trip up to 15 days before departure. We are worried that if the train to Salzburg gets cancelled because of the strike we will not be refunded for our return trip. Or our trip there, for that matter.

The friendly lady at NS international at Schiphol says that NS doesn’t partake in the strike. It is only for buses and trams. I really want to believe her, but the FNV site calls on all their members in all OV sectors to strike (and convince their colleagues too).

My question: Does anyone know the real scope of the strike? And, if you were me, would you risk the international train ticket on 9 September- or would you rebook?
