MAG Euros preview, plus results from Rhythmic Worlds and WAG Euros

MAG Euros preview, plus results from Rhythmic Worlds and WAG Euros

Well, that was certainly a weekend of a lot of gymnastics. Congrats to all who made it out well-rested.

MAG Euros is coming soon to a screen near you! Check out this preview of all AA scores for MAGs who will be there, and visit the master post of all the information we’ve got, including links for exorbitantly expensive streaming, scoring, draws, and start lists.

I would also highly recommend watching this preview from Donnell Whittenburg. Our guy put together some solid analysis and also talked to Manrique Larduet! Larduet, who formerly competed for Cuba, is now the two-time all-around champion of Italy but told Whittenburg that he’s still waiting for Italian citizenship. He’s hoping to have that passport in hand by the end of the year so he can compete for Italy in 2027.

If you’ve ever been interested in checking out rhythmic, I’d highly recommend this year’s World Championships, which just concluded. It was an incredibly good competition. Brazil’s group won the world titles in both apparatus finals, which were the first and second Worlds gold medals ever won by the Americas in the history of rhythmic. Darja Varfolomeev won her third World AA title, meaning she has won the AA four years straight (including the Paris Olympics).

With the conclusion of WAG Euros, we have all the women’s qualifiers in place for the World Championships. You can find an unofficial list here along with named teams for the few countries who have already selected. Men’s qualifiers will be set this weekend with MAG Euros.

2026 MAG Euros master post

MAG Euros is finally upon us! Below you’ll find the schedule, draw, and useful links.

This is the final qualifier for the 2026 World Championships. 13 teams will qualify to Worlds. The top 23 AAers whose countries did not qualify teams will then qualify to Worlds (2pc). There are also 2 spots available for AAers whose countries did not qualify any individuals through this meet or the spring World Cup circuit.

The EG event page is here. That will give you links to streaming and live scoring. Sorry about how insanely expensive the QF stream is. Apparently this sport will not rest until all meets are as inaccessible as possible.

WAG Euros and RG Worlds previews, plus US and Brazilian Championships results and more

Are you into both WAG and rhythmic? Good luck finding time to sleep this week!

With FIG’s recent shrug-emoji of a clarification, both Croatia and Germany announced that they will not allow the national symbols of Russia or Belarus to be used in the arena. And as has been discussed previously, Croatia first declined to issue visas to specific individuals in the Russian delegation, but later issued visas to some but not all. It’s been that kind of week.

For information on WAG Euros, you can see our collection of schedules, draws, and links here. You can also see all of the year’s AA scores of the people on the nominative roster here.

Speaking of nominative rosters, we got a new one for RG Worlds. And you can find all the information we have (along with the process of Olympic qualifying that happens at RG Worlds this year) at the RG Worlds master post.

And of course USAG announced their MAG team for Worlds and their MAG delegation for the Paris World Challenge Cup.

Slightly different organization this week. Hopefully it works for everyone.

2026 Rhythmic World Championships master post

This year’s RG Worlds is an Olympic qualifier. The medal-winning countries in both the individual and group AA finals will be awarded berths for the 2028 Olympics. (The individual berths will be non-nominative, meaning they go to the country and not the athlete.) You can see the exact text of the relevant qualifying procedures document here.

For those who are less familiar with rhythmic, qualification for the individual AA final is calculated by dropping everyone’s lowest scores. This means that some individuals who only do 3 events in qualifying can still make the final. 18 gymnasts will qualify to the final. The final will be seeded, with the top 9 athletes in the second session.

FIG’s event website is here. You’ll be able to get to live scoring from the menu when the event starts. Eurovision Sport will be streaming the competition. To my knowledge, qualifications will be available worldwide, but geoblocking will happen for finals in countries where someone owns the broadcast rights.

Below is the detailed schedule with start times in local time. The qualifying draw for individuals and groups are in the charts below that. Results will be linked in this post for future reference.

US Champs preview, WAG Euros info, and results of the week of 1 August

It’s US Champs week! If you want a preview of the AA fields for WAG (junior/senior) and MAG (senior only), we’ve got everybody’s AA scores for the year and their averages. Brazilian champs is the other big domestic meet this week. You can see the full schedule here.

Next, our WAG Euros master post is live! You can find the schedule and draws there, with links to every team announcement we’ve found. This week we’ve seen announcements from Germany, Hungary, Italy, and probably some others I’m forgetting. There’s also a link to the EG’s event page, which has links to streams and results.

In other international news, the Ukrainian federation requested that European Gymnastics alter the MAG draw for Euros, as the senior Ukrainian team was going to be rotating with Belarus. Stella Zakharova (UKR fed VP) announced on social media today that EG has complied with the request by shifting them into a different slot in that subdivision. This change has not been officially announced by EG yet.

The Romanian Parliament passed a law authorizing the Romanian Olympic Committee to pay litigation fees for cases involving Romanian athletes.

Lastly, the Central American and Caribbean Games are ongoing. Results from several sessions are available on r/gymnastics_info, but I’m planning to link to all of them next week when the event has concluded so they’re all together.

Commonwealth Games roundup, FIG Executive Committee actions and more: review/preview for 20-28 July

This week’s post is a bit late because some weekend tournaments didn’t end until today.

A busy week behind us, a light one in front of us, and of course things start getting really busy as we get into the heart of August. See this week’s schedule here. (There is a Japanese meet listed here but we’re not sure it’s actually happening this week. Might have been cancelled or postponed, might have been a transcription error.)

The Commonwealth Games have wrapped up, and you can find all results linked below and in the CWG master post.

More Euros team announcements have happened, with Sweden announcing its teams, Spain announcing its teams, France announcing MAG, and Germany announcing MAG. We should have a master post for WAG Euros posted sometime soon (like the CWG hub linked above). You will be able to find all links to team announcements as well as the schedule and draw there.

In bureaucracy news, we have notes from FIG’s Executive Committee meeting. In positive news, they have approved a draft code of points for a Paralympic discipline. I believe the aim is to have gymnastics included at the 2032 Paralympics.

Importantly, they have clarified their ill-conceived rules about the readmittance of Russia and Belarus. Essentially if your country agreed to host a meet prior to the rules change and there are local laws prohibiting the display of these flags, you will not be required to do so.

FIG also announced that Secretary General Nicolas Buompane will be leaving his post at the end of the year. We will remember Buompane for reacting to the idea of men’s rhythmic gymnastics in horror because of the sparkles, as he apparently doesn’t know what’s going on in acro.

In USAG news, we have the first senior registration lists for US Champs. The International Elite Committee also posted its plans for choosing the women’s national teams. They’re intending to take the top 12 AA for both juniors and seniors so long as minimum scores are achieved, and others can be added as needed.

At this point I have not been able to find official rosters for Malaysia or Jamaica. Commonwealth Games info, plus US Classic results, Euros info, and more

Happy Commonwealth Games time, everyone!

CWG is the big one upcoming this week, although we’ve also got national championships in artistic and rhythmic happening in Germany along with Italian artistic champs and the start of the Central American and Caribbean Games. See the full list of meets here, and see the combined timetable of CWG, Die Finals, and Italian champs here.

For CWG you can find everything I know in the CWG master post. Known rosters are linked there, and you can find the schedule and draw as well. At the moment, we believe live scoring will on Longines but nothing is actually live yet. When it is, I’ll come back and update.

If you live in a Commonwealth country, watching will probably be pretty easy. Outside the Commonwealth is a bit of a mystery at the moment. It may require a VPN.

And for those who are curious, Tiana Sumanasekera makes her debut for Sri Lanka in sub 2.

On a bureaucratic note, the IEC clarified which meets will be considered when filling out additional open spots for US Championships. As a reminder, 52.5 is the threshold to automatically qualify. If they don’t fill all the spots that way (which they haven’t this year), they will fill the remaining spots using AA scores at the meets listed in the document, with a lower threshold of 51.5.

The Euros nominative rosters (WAG, MAG) came out last week along with the draws (WAG, MAG).

Austrian WAG and Croatian MAG announced their teams. This will be Illia Kovtun’s debut for Croatia. (After CWG concludes, we will have master posts MAG and WAG Euros as well as RG Worlds.)

For German Championships, you can find start lists here: MAG, WAG, RG.

The rhythmic Worlds nominative roster was also released. (Mid-August is going to be so busy, y’all.)

Singapore announced its teams for the Asian Games later this year.

WAG results:

MAG results:

  • 2nd Swiss Euros Trial
  • Linz Friendly (Norway won this, the team sat down on the medal stand to do the Viking row and nearly toppled the whole setup because it was just stacks of mats)
