Soucek and Bowen
Look lads, I don’t know what the future holds. Maybe we go down on Sunday, maybe we don’t. Either way it’s likely some players are going to be sold and it could well be the last time we see some of them.
There’s a lot of new blood that I’m not that bothered about, but I think we need to stand up and appreciate these two. Both signed in January 2020. Crucial to keeping us up that season. They’ve been ever-presents through thick and thin. They took us to European glory, and they’ve battled when we’ve been in difficulty.
Soucek is an absolute warrior. People have given him stick at times but it isn’t deserved. How many headers has he won in the last six years? How many crucial goals? How many times has he bled for West Ham?
Jarrod Bowen… Again, he gets criticised for not being the perfect captain, whatever that is. But his stats are undeniable, his effort is undeniable. He has scored some bangers and there was a particular goal in Prague…
Obviously I hope it’s not the last time we see them in a West Ham shirt, but I just think it’s worth taking a moment, whatever happens on Sunday. I’d hate for their last moments in a West Ham shirt to be boos and a half empty stadium.
