Fired, but severence agreement says they will record it as "voluntary" - will it effect unemployment eligibility?
I was fired from my job, not for misconduct but for "not meeting expectations." Basically it's a month's pay and insurance if I promise not to sue or anything. Also, they will record this as a "voluntary separation" if anyone asks. Additionally, they say they will not contest any claims for unemployment, and will respond to inquiries about my unemployment claims 'that [I] was separated pursuant to this agreement'. It doesn't say I have to agree that this a voluntary termination, and I also have a dismissal letter outlining that I was fired.
How does this affect my ability to get unemployment? I already filed saying I was fired, which is true and provable. Is my employer gonna contradict them? Or am I reading too much into it? Or something else?
