Are payments supposed to be delayed today because of the holiday weekend?

I didn’t think the 4th would affect payments considering it was a Saturday but I still have not got anything

WorkSource appointments needed before your first unemployment check?

Hey all, wondering if this might be new. I filed unemployment, in a waiting week and received a letter already to schedule an appointment with WorkSource.

is this new? I would assume you would get a check before you are required to schedule. (Don't worry I'm setting things up to get an appointment in! Honestly not sure what those folks can do in my space. I might be educating them how to use AI to do their day job in the appointment to cover all their administrative tasks.

They're mad because I reported casual self-employment?

Since there's so many warnings about how you should be honest, I reported some casual self-employment earnings from my YouTube channel. It was only $200 Adsense I made for one weekly claim.

I don't have an LLC for the YouTube channel or anything. It's just sole prop.

They took issue with that, and sent me an alert titled 'Self-employment' and asked me 'Why did you fail to report this previously?' even though I did report it on every claim.

They're questioning whether I'm even eligible for UI now even though I was approved and already received 2 weekly payments.

What is their issue? Do they want me to hide it and just not report it? I thought I was doing them a favor by telling them everything transparently.

Pending status

My unemployment has been pending for 8 weeks now. Is anyone else's taking this long? I've made phone calls to see if they're missing information from me, but they say they have everything they need. They stop taking calls on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon just to tackle the amount of volume they have. It's just makes no sense it's taking this long and it's just a waiting game at this point. Does anyone have any insight?

Unemployment!

This is my first post on Reddit, like ever. So here's my story. I am 29F, did a Bachelor's in Economics and graduated in 2021. Two months later, I was to go to UNT for studies but was denied a visa. That crashed me for a minute, and before I knew it, I was pregnant with my son. He came in 2023 January and had to be SAHM for a minute. When he got to 6 months, or so, I got some gigs online like VA and tutoring jobs, which helped because they were all WFH and I could take care of my baby. In between, I'd apply to jobs in my field (Economics), but none were successful. 2024 came, and I decided to enroll for a Master's degree, which is still ongoing, and I specialised in Health Economics. When I first got back to school, I was enthusiastic about getting back to job seeking, and I did volunteer with the UN for a couple of months. 2025 came, and I noticed something was off with my baby because he had delayed milestones (now to take him to ASD and ADHD assessments). This struck me, and I was dysfunctional. My life came to a standstill because I was finally starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but now I was back to square 1. 2025 was a dark year for me; I cannot tell how many applications I did. 2026 came, and I promised to job hunt like my life depends on it, and I can say I have been pretty consistent, but till now, nothing. I have acquired so many skills from M&E, disease modelling courses, data analysis, economic analysis, and econometrics, but whenever I apply, they need an insane amount of experience. Idk, I'm really lost right now and mentally struggling, hence this post. Does anyone relate to my story? A little encouragement would go a long way

Unemployment question

I’m wondering if I might qualify for unemployment if I resign. I know no one can say for sure, but I’m curious if anyone has been in a similar situation.
My employer recently changed my regular work schedule with relatively short notice. I had been working a consistent schedule for a while and had planned personal commitments and medical appointments around it. When I spoke with management, I explained that I needed a predictable schedule and asked if I could return to my previous schedule, but I was told no.
I was also told that if I wanted certain days to remain off in the future, I would need to submit PTO requests for those days, even though I couldn’t find anything in our written policy requiring employees to use PTO to keep their regularly scheduled days off.
This wasn’t the only issue. Over time there were multiple scheduling changes, poor communication from management, unanswered emails regarding scheduling and PTO, and inconsistent direction from supervisors. Before deciding to resign, I met with management to try to resolve the scheduling concerns, but nothing changed.
Based on that, does this sound like it could qualify as “good cause” for quitting under Washington unemployment, or is it more likely that a claim would be denied? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with Washington ESD in a similar situation.

Laid off during PFML, when to apply for unemployment?

Hi all, I’m currently on FMLA after having a baby in March. I’ve been using PTO to this point, but I’ve qualified for PFML which I’ll start claiming next week when my PTO runs out. I’ll be using medical benefit PFML through the end of September, and then I still have an additional 8 weeks of family benefit time to apply for. I got notice of a layoff while out on leave. My official layoff date is July 1. I know I can’t collect PFML and unemployment benefits simultaneously, but do I need to apply now (within 2 weeks of separation) and just defer payments until my PFML is up, or should I wait to apply until after I’ve used up my PFML?

I might not even end up claiming unemployment depending on how the job search goes, but I would like to be prepared just in case.

Quit job during benefit year

I was on unemployment in December, got job in January. I’m applying for another job, and if I get it, I’m wondering if I could get unemployment in between the quit date and start date if this happens within my benefit year? Main reason I’m applying for new job is it’s a big pay increase and more interesting work. Just wondering about this since I’m still in my original benefit year.

Impact of Biweekly severance pay

I’ve searched through information & previous posts but most seem to be older.

I was notified officially on June 24th that my last day of work (laid off) would be July 17th. My paycheck for hours worked will be on July 25th & I’ll get biweekly severance pay through September 25th. Severance Payments will be treated as wages subject to all legally-required tax deductions and withholdings and will be reported on a W-2.

Can I claim unemployment at the same time or do I need to open a claim, not receive money because of severance and if by September 25th I still haven’t found work, then continue to apply/claim and THEN get unemployment?

Phone Contact to Report Overpayment

Hey ya'll. First off thank you for all that you do. You've help many like myself through so much. Second, is there a number to call to report an over-payment, and change things? I've been in a rough place, and accidentally messed up some numbers for a couple of weeks, and don't want to get busted for fraud, but also don't want my unemployment to end because it was a temporary part time job I had to get me through the first couple of weeks, and is no longer. Thank you again for the help!

Help needed- STUCK/APPEAL HEARING SOON!

I swear I’m a pretty smart young woman, and I am still in complete disbelief.

My unemployment was DENIED because I was supposedly “too sick to work.”

My disability was also DENIED because I was supposedly “not sick enough to not work.”

READ THAT AGAIN…

How am I supposed to heal when I’m stuck in a constant state of fight-or-flight, fighting systems instead of focusing on recovery?

For nearly two years, I’ve kept a roof over my daughter and my head. For one of those years, I had no income at all. Her father contributes $12 a month, and every trip to Seattle for my specialists—gas, lodging, parking, meals, medications—has come completely out of my own pocket.

I’m exhausted. Physically. Mentally. Financially.

I’m not asking for a free ride. I’m asking for the chance to recover without having to prove my worth or my illness over and over again.

No one should be told they’re too sick to work while also being told they’re not sick enough to qualify for disability.

Somewhere in the middle of those two decisions is where people like me are expected to survive.

And that’s exactly where the system is failing.

Healing isn’t impossible- but for myself as a single mom I can’t rest, I have a little girl who depends on me. But being expected to heal while fighting to survive every single day? That feels impossible.

AM I CRAZY?

What if I want a career change and wish to apply for jobs different than my experience?

I’m reading through the unemployment website and it says I am only allowed to “apply for jobs in my usual occupation that are in line with my usual wage and my experience or training”. So does that mean applying for a non profit doesn’t count as a job search activity? People aren’t allowed to do career changes? I’ve been in corporate America for 30 years at a relatively high level. Now I wish to apply for lower paying jobs, but that are more meaningful to me (I don’t really need the money). It doesn’t seem like the system allows for this? What are workarounds?

Moved to San Diego in January and getting furloughed on Saturday. Worked all of 2025 in WA, file in WA right?

Like the title say… should apply for unemployment in WA correct? Is there any other steps to take besides the obvious proof of furlough and job history? And I’m going to file on Sunday 6/28. Hoping for minimal delays🤞🏼🤞🏼. Anyone dealt with out-of-state issues?
