GDIT

This has to be a joke. This is not the first, second, or third time this has happened where I apply for a role, only to receive an email saying that the compensation I mentioned is not able to be provided … the salary was listed as 95-135k, I listed 100-120k. At this point they’re just making excuses

FLIES?

Is it just my area (town center) or what? The flies are horrible. I’ve checked vents, my garage, walls, take out the trash daily. Still they are everywhere. I have to run into the house whenever I come back home and yet it’s like they hover right in front of the door waiting for someone to open it. So over it. I tried the pop up fly traps which work in catching and killing them but only for like two days, if you leave it out for longer than that the fly carcasses and the smell of the mixture itself seems to attract more and more of them. I need fall and winter to get here soon.

An Encounter with something

Okay so this is 2016, freshman year of college. I lived in a suite with 7 other girls, (yikes I know but that isn’t the scary part), we had a shared common area where we had a TV and couches etc to just hang out and we would have movie nights often. Well, one night in mid-October we wanted to watch a scary movie to get in the Halloween mood. For reference, my best friend (also my suitemate) is deathly afraid of any and everything so she was already pretty hesitant but gave in because what else would she do while we were all watching a movie in the common area.

So that night, we had snacks, invited over my best friend’s child hood friend who attends the same school as us, please keep this in mind. CHILD HOOD FRIEND, so they know each other very well. We sat and turned on Blair witch project. Cute, fun, great watch. Then we decided to watch The Conjuring, (whichever one introduced Valak) , again also a great watch. But this one was the one that spooked my best friend the most. So towards the end I was leaning in towards her childhood friend and plotting a way to scare her. We came to the conclusion that when she gets up to use the bathroom, he will then hide underneath the couch and like grab at her legs when she comes to sit back down. So she goes to the restroom, upon returning to the common area she asks where he is. We all act like we don’t know, and say maybe she should call him. So she does. His phone doesn’t ring, nor does it vibrate. Which is weird, we thought dammit that is for sure going to give him away. But someone picks up the phone immediately.

My best friend says, hello? John where are you? AN OLD FEMALE VOICE ANSWERS BACK ON THE PHONE AND SAYS “ HMMMM, HELLO” we’re all like wtf. She hangs up. And calls back again, this time his phone rings and he simultaneously gets out from under the couch. My best friend screams because well she’s her, but we’re all like what the fuck just happened. My best friend was like who was that!? Did you pick up the phone? Her childhood friend says no you would have heard me idk what or who that was. Are you sure you called me? And she said yes look, this is your saved number! It shows I called you twice. Who was that!? ITS NOT FUNNY GUYS. And we all legitimately had no idea what happened, who was the woman who answered and we just all went to our respective rooms and went to sleep. And never really spoke about it again. Haha.

Not my story but my teacher said I could share

My teacher was in high school a couple of years before cellphones were a thing. It was around Halloween, she was (and still is) obsessed with the holiday. So she convinced a few of her friends to follow her to a house about 30 minutes away from her home in PA , as she had heard about a boy named Daniel who was around her age at the time who had passed away in that house with his family from a house fire. She wanted to use an ouija board to see if she could talk to Daniel. Her friends were of course hesitant but ended up giving in. They drove to the house one evening without telling her parents where they were going. They arrived at the house , well what was left of it anyway, and walked over to the part of the house that was still kinda standing, (literally hanging on by a thread) and they walked up the stairs and sat in the hallway or room who knows the house was literally missing walls and debris. They started to use the ouija board, asked if anyone was there, specifically asked for Daniel, they weren’t getting a response. Ten minutes or so went by her friends grew tired and frustrated frankly so they decided to leave. As they were driving back home their car hits something on the road and they go tumbling into a ditch, all of them were fine but the car needed to be towed. They were stranded in the middle of nowhere PA on a road where nobody comes for hours maybe one car if you’re lucky. No cell phones, their parents didn’t know where they went. About 15 minutes pass and a tow truck comes speeding down the road the girls jump up flailing their arms to get the attention of the driver. He pulls up next to them and says oh there you girls are, I didn’t know where exactly on this road the accident happened. They looked confused. My teacher said huh? What do you mean? How did you know we were here? The tow truck driver said a boy named Daniel called and told me his friends got into an accident on the road and needed help getting home. The girls were silent as he loaded the car to the back of his truck and they went to sit in the front of the tow truck, on top of one another in silence until the the tow truck driver took them home.

More rant not really advice

I’m on an Amtrak (bus not train) super full so every seat is taken, next stop isn’t until maybe another 3 hours. The guy I was unfortunate enough to sit next to was on FaceTime and not even as subtle as he thought called me huge and said it would be a long ride, and told his friend to look at the phone as he was pointing the camera at me. For reference, I’m 6’2, female, 230 pounds, athletic build from years of collegiate volleyball and track. I would not consider myself to be huge in the manner he was referencing. I have birthing hips (best way to describe) but I’m aware of that so I’m not even leaning near him in any fashion. It’s just a bit hurtful that someone could be that comfortable to comment on someone’s appearance and body knowing fully well they can be heard. It makes me think of all the people bigger than me and how many people like this they encounter while they’re just simply existing. I would have asked what would you all do in my situation, but I honestly would have moved but literally every seat is taken.

I DID SO BAD ON MY INTERVIEW LMAO

I had an interview scheduled for one hour, we were done in 22 minutes lmao. I answered all of the questions because I know you’re not supposed to just say idk , so I just said what I could but Jesus Christ that was probably the worst interview I’ve ever had in my life. GS-12 , I interviewed for a GS-15 back in November of 2024, got a TJO but rescinded because of the hiring freeze so this was my first try back at the same agency and wowza. Anyway, back to applying 😂

Might be moving to Maine

Hi! I may be moving to Portland, Maine for a job, I’m originally from VA. I don’t like to go out, single, no kids, have been searching for an area that’s honestly just pretty with some decent food, I’m a homebody always have been. Hate hot weather. By what I’ve described so far, does this seem like the right move? lol
