Advice

So this grape has been with me for about four months, but for the first three months, it didn’t grow because the soil was bad then I replaced it and now it’s growing like really large every day. What am I supposed to do with it? Should I put it on a stick or is it meant to grow downwards? I’ve never owned many plants before so this is new to me.

Is this a nutrient deficiency?

Concord grapes in South Texas area with clay soil. Fed Down to Earth Acid Mix a week ago or so, and topped with compost. Planted a few years ago in un amended soil, and I’m finally trying to take care of it.

Treating powdery mildew on bare roots?

I bought a couple bare root marquis grape plants a month ago and planted them in separate 20 gallon grow bags. One of the vines started to push new growth, but since leaf emergence, the leaves have a silvery, webby like coating on the surface. I only realized there was an issue when a new vine sprouted from below the soil with a vibrant green color. I scratched the surface of one of the open leaves to see if it was superficial or if it was part of the leaf and found it it's something on the leaf. I'm wondering - is this powdery mildew or some other fungus, and what can I do to save the plants? Both of them seem well rooted, one hasn't pushed any leaf growth yet, but I'm worried that this will spread to both plants and affect their health

Looking for grape vine advice

We have a grape vine in our back yard from the previous owners. Last fall was the first time in the last ten years I properly pruned it all the way back. It started sprouting new spots a few weeks back.

Is there anything I should be doing as we go into summer to properly care for them / encourage fruit / keep it from jumping the fence and invading my neighbors shed.

No idea what variety it is, but we’re in the western Washington in terms of climate if that helps.

Backyard vineyard

Three years in the making and finally seeing some fruits of my labor. Have a nice variety of Concord, St Theresa, himrod, reliance, and thomcord. Currently my two Concord vines and St Theresa will produce this year. Other varieties were planted last year. The end goal is to add three or four more rows and maybe do small batches of wine. I honestly just love the hobby.

Looking for advice on selecting main trunk – Suffolk & Himrod grapevines (Zone 8a, NC)

Hi everyone,
I’m growing two bare-root grapevines in Zone 8a, North Carolina and looking for some early training advice.

I planted:
Suffolk grapevine on April 9, 2026
Himrod grapevine on April 16, 2026

Both were started as bare-root vines, and they’ve recently begun pushing out new growth. Right now, each vine is producing several young shoots from the original cane.

I’ve already thinned out a couple of weaker shoots and am now left with a few stronger contenders on each plant.

Current situation:
Some shoots have thicker bases but fewer leaves
Others have thinner stems but slightly larger or more developed-looking leaves
All growth is still very young

My question:
At this stage, should I select a single strongest shoot right away to become the main trunk, or is it okay to temporarily let 2–3 shoots grow a bit longer before narrowing it down to one?
Also, if anyone has experience growing Suffolk or Himrod grapes in warmer climates (Zone 8a), I’d really appreciate any early training/pruning advice so I don’t set the vines up poorly long-term.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone grow and are familiar with this type of grape? A nursery about 1 hour away has this grapevine.

There are not too much information online besides it being used for wine.

Are my grapes dead ?

Hello,

As per the title suggests will these grapes catch.

I planted last fall and they went through a winter.

It is spring but still under 5C during night/early morning.

They feel sturdy in the ground. Wondering if they will catch

Living in Ontario, Canada

During winter do i need to cut back down to 2 - 3 buds as to grow stronger main stem for young vine?

I bought these young grape vines but a bit unsure on how to prune them to properly form a strong trunk, they are about 1 - 2 years old

How to prune Kyoho grapes for more fruits during flowering season?

I raised this kyoho grapes from a cutting, and this is the 3rd year and first year of it producing flowers buds, I'm hopeful it will produce some fruits this year!

The tree is quite small so I am wondering if I need to prune some of the little branches off, I watched some YouTube videos and the commercial producers pruning techniques seems quite complicated.

I'm also in the PNW area.

Any general tips would be appreciated!

Got this Catawba grape vine about a month ago, how should I guide/prune it?

It seems to be thriving and quickly outgrowing the trellis I have for it. Thinking of just guiding it around the whole thing? First timer I'm not sure how to make it as productive as possible. Im in zone 7b
