Participator Nonfic Writers Vs Observational Fiction Writers

Hi all. I'm an independent music journalist. I create long form pieces on my website, tend to treat my instagram captions like micro-publications (maxing out all characters), and last year I went out on a limb to record a audio only podcast covering new music scenes from all over the world.

I've written poetry in the past, and this year I was featured with an honorary mention in my local paper.

I'm interested in finding writing friends who can assist me or motivate me when it comes to output, planning or productivity.

I have tried a few discord groups as well as groups in my local community in search of buddies to sprint with...but since my work isn't novel-based, convos centering around "arc building", plot structure or hypothetical character backgrounds aren't offering me much writing support.

I'm a tad discouraged. How did you find your writing partner? Any tips?

Creating Content to Encourage More Deep Film Discussions

Hello cinema buffs and film lovers. I have been posting in this reddit group for over a year with my favorite scenes or quotes, & rare photos. I've learned so much about some of the biggest stars from back in the day, ohh and Lucille Ball....friends they knew.....or were introduced to during the time...and other fun behind the scenes tidbits that make me know I've found my happy place on the internet....and as long as I have this space I will never hunger for a modern television series or film.

This being said, I am attempting something major in my local community, motivating others with face to face conversations about how the films that touched us so deeply, will always have a fundamental impact on us. I really don't want to promote myself here, but wanted to share this update in case others were interested in discovering a world (in addition to this beautiful reddit group) that wasn't social media.....and didn't require you to drink or entertain.

Right now it's a tiny discord chat mixed with a local town library meetup so everyone involved has a safe and quiet place to connect.. Although this started at a local level in Michigan, there are a lot of active participaters and discussion encouragers from all around the world. I'd love to open the map up a little more and expand the conversation to anyone who could benefit from it.

How I see our days ahead: waking up to fun memes of bette davis or playing chess virtually together as we chat about the details of the Desilu/RKO takeover.

or punny chats like "drop your hypothetical star trek usernames"

Please let me know if this at all sounds intriguing and I can follow up with a invitation to this additional little corner of the internet.

Misrepresented & Misunderstood

Hello. My name is Britt. I'm a 36 y/o music journalist and reside in Coloma,Michigan about an hr away (more southwest) from Grand Rapids. I am posting this here (and editing it some) in hopes someone locally would want to get involved with what I'm trying to build in the community.

I've been making a space that lives mostly in discord right now but is growing into regular irl meetups too. The concept is hard to pitch in one sentence (which honestly i think is a good sign) but the short version is: it's a third place that doesn't require you to drink...spend money.....or perform extroversion to belong......

The "Diggers Discussion Circle" just kicked off in April. There were 6 in person attendees last month and over 70 users on our online groups.

i'm looking for a couple of specific things:

1. A Co-admin or Discord Mod: someone local-"ish" who gets community building, but also gets how discord works. This is unpaid right now but it's real and it has legs.

2. SMWI Women especially: if you've ever felt like this area doesn't have enough spaces built for you....coffee houses....dope arcade or book lounges....this is me trying to fix that. I mean, right now we gotta lotta dudes...so you'd be helping me out by stopping by or participating either in person or online.

I want people who have opinions....ideas.....and passions be able to connect together on a more local level....not only for discovery purposes (because think of all the rad film suggestions you would start getting from someone in Ireland) but also for purposes of depth and mental digestion.

I'm looking for a soul who sees my fire & is just as passionate about making this region take off***.*** Of course, I'm not going to overpromise what this is. it's early....but early is exactly when it matters to show up.
