Purpose of lead crystal color

Purpose of lead crystal color

One thing I'm curious about is why glass color manufacturers often have a lead crystal color (e.g. all of https://glasscolor.com/gaffer-clear-lead-crystal, https://glasscolor.com/r-100, https://hotglasscolor.com/products/k-100-bar-lead-crystal ) -- I thought the purpose of lead crystal was (roughly) to increase the index of refraction of glass; is using e.g. an overlay or adding a layer of frit enough to do this meaningfully over otherwise normal clear? Has anyone used these colors and had interesting results?

Tagliol for color overlays?

Apologies if this is a silly question, but I’m curious if there are pros/cons to using the tag to spread color bar from an overlay over the clear bubble at the bench (rather than at the marver, which is how I learned). I would have thought that using the tag or some other smaller tool would suck less heat out of the color and give you a little more time to spread the color over (though maybe if one is skilled enough the difference becomes negligible).
