Preparing for a team interview

I’m applying to a FIRST robotics team and I have an interview scheduled with them soon that will help determine whether I get accepted into the team or not. I’m relatively new to FIRST as a whole so I don’t have many technical skills to offer, but they say that they welcome beginners regardless.

How should I prepare for interviews such as these? I have an extremely strong willingness to learn and would love to be on this team.

Thanks in advance!

Local rocketry clubs in the NYC area that allow high schoolers to join?

Kind of a shot in the dark post. I’ve gained the desire to join a rocketry club but it’s too late for me to start one at my school this year and I’d prefer not to wait until next year to start one. Additionally, I’ve tried finding local clubs near me but it’s to no avail.

Does anyone know of any local rocketry clubs in NYC that allow high schoolers to join? Thank you so much for your time!

Any fall/academic year programs related to engineering/robotics for high schoolers?

For context, I'm a rising sophomore interested in engineering and I wanted to apply to some programs related to engineering that take place over the fall semester or the entire academic year. Are there any that people know of? I've had trouble finding them myself. Please let me know, and ty in advance!

edit: i would also love to know about architecture programs as well! thanks once again

Anyone know of any community FTC teams in the NYC/NY area that I could join?

Basically the title. My school doesn't have a FTC team and I would like to join one but I have had difficulty finding a community based one to join. For some reason I can't search for FTC teams using the first team search so any responses would be appreciated. Thanks!

Rising sophomore in need of advice

Hello everybody! I am currently a rising high school sophomore in nyc and I hope to attend a T20 university in the future. I’m feeling a bit lost as to what i can/should do this summer to work toward this goal. I have been rejected from all of the summer programs I applied to and honestly im feeling very lost and disheartened because of it. As a result, I have nothing planned for this summer and I feel a bit behind. What activities can/should I do this summer that would help me get into a t20 university? (For reference, I’m interested in engineering and am also a little interested in architecture)

Oh yeah also some ideas I have this summer is to get really good at cad (computer aided design) for robotics, scioly, personal projects, etc, learn basic python, volunteer consistently at a local org, maybe make a science fair project(although I have no clue where to start), and maybe email local engineering firms/labs for potential opportunities(I recognize that it’s probably too late for this😅). Are these good ideas? if not, what else should I do? Thanks for your time!!

Can i join another school's/community's FRC/VEX team?

For reference, I am a student at a high school located in NYC and have joined my schools FRC team this past school year. The thing is, though, is that they are extremely small, underfunded, and as a result, rarely compete in regional/district competitions. I recognize that this really is not their fault, but I'd love to join a team that is larger and more involved within the competition space. Could I join some other robotics team, and if so, how should I approach doing so? Thank you for the advice!
