Even worse, this could’ve easily been prevented

Context: On April 19, 2019, a recently-released prisoner named Gavin Collins went on a rampage that involved breaking into multiple buildings and carjacking several people before driving erratically while shouting about how he was Jesus and other delusional claims. This would eventually lead him to crash into a bus stop where 87-year-old retired teacher and former magistrate Terry Radford was waiting, killing him instantly, followed by Collins leaving the car and claiming that he had “killed the devil” before finally being arrested.

Radford’s family, who stated that he was looking forwards to enjoying the rest of his life after losing his wife to dementia months before, became even more upset upon learning that Collins wasn’t fit to be released early at all, having had several misconduct incidents that including starting two fires and was prone to psychotic episode, exposing immense incompetence in the British justice system. As for Collins, he was eventually sentenced to 21 years for Radford’s death. And the worst part is that this could’ve easily been prevented.
