Okay so someone smarter than me please tell me if I have a handle on Judd offset.

X-300's and some early OLED's needed Judd offset to look right but then later dual LCD and better OLED's came along and fixed the issue necessitating Judd offset?

With the more recent screens, if you include the judd offset in the calibration, that's just to match to a x-300 or some hero monitor that has Judd offset?

If clients are viewing on iPads or laptops, then it's better to not have judd offset?

I got a 25k Hayward SWG for a 15k pool

It's been 100 degrees in socal the past couple weeks and I am shocked the SWG isn't keeping up with demand at 75% and running 14 hours a day.

It was killing it during 80 degree days where I only had to do 40% output but once summer really hit, things fell off.

This is normal for the cell size to pool size, right?

The last time I checked the cell diagnostic menu it read

Water temp: 87°F

Cell voltage: 25.9V

Cell amperage: 5.27A

Output: 62P (prior to me going 75%)

Instant salt: -3600

AL-0

Board: r1.59

Cell type: T-9

I try to keep cya at 70, I might go higher to 90 to see what happens. I put a solar cover over it too to help this week.

Again, is it crazy to see a 25k cell struggling in a 100 degree summer for a 15k pool?

I have a Goodman 4 ton GSX140481KE. Honeywell T5 thermostat

1500 sqft house in Los Angeles. We recently remodeled and insulated walls, attic and floor. New windows. Insulated duct work.

Our AC is great and I'm happy with everything.

I am worried about short cycling at night during the summer. I sat and timed it last night and I believe the compressor was cycling on roughly every 10 minutes, with runs around 4 minutes each. Blower kept running 1-2 minutes after the compressor shut off.

That's asking for 74 indoors with 80 degrees outside temp at 9pm.

I dropped it down to 68 as a test and the compressor ran 15 mins and blower 3 mins after the compressor kicked off. New filter this month.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the short cycles or is that just how it is with coldish air outside but a heat soaked attic? I assume that's the issue

I'm just trying to make my HVAC run as long as I can.

Does anyone here have positive experiences with sc-1000 and their SWG?

I was looking into how long it takes for my free chlorine levels to normalize after dropping to zero with the purge and now I found all this information about people saying it messed up their SWG.

I turned mine off but it was on at 70% for a couple hours during the purge dose. I'll pop it open tomorrow to check the fins.

Edit - I called Orenda, they recommended having the SWG off during the dosing. Both encourage and then for 4 hours for the weekly re-dose.

I'm gonna crack the cell open tomorrow and pray everything is fine. It was only on for a few hours during the purge dose

So I got an SWG and I live in an area with hard water. I thought I'd be a cool guy and start dosing sc 1000 to protect my heater and SWG.

I did the purge dose to the skimmer with 1.5 quart for a 15k pool. FC went to zero as expected and I've dosed twice today to get it back up but I'm still at 0. I've added a gallon of 12.5 liquid chlorine.

I guess it's something to do with the chlorine attacking the sc 1000?

In a day or two my pool will respond to chlorine doses again??

So I'm 60 hours short of the 400. A show I work on delayed its start date.

The show is back on and I'm earning hours again thank God!

Now why does MPI act like I'm a leper when I'm short hours but still obviously working? What does it benefit from this?

Why can't I just give them some money to make up the difference during the qualifying period?

Is it to try and reduce the amount of people on MPI because it's having a hard time funding itself?

Do any of you Stream deck folks use it where the iPad is your controller or is getting a physical stream deck a must?

I'm going to get a gas heater installed on my pool that is currently just a VSP pump and a DE filter. Plaster pool.

I want to go to SWG eventually but my wallet can handle the heater at the moment.

Any tips or things I should tell my installer when plumbing in the heater to make sure we have accounted for an eventual SWG?

I have the chance to color HDR from home and will still do reviews at the post house with a BVM x 310.

I wanted to see if the 10 grand is worth it or if I should go with a TV instead and pocket the difference. I have graded an HDR show on the A95 before and I didn't really enjoy it.

To get rid of pesky water hammer issues that haven't been fixed by installing water hammers I plan on going under the house and doing some additional strapping.

Is there a strap everyone recommends for copper pipes in a raised foundation house? I was going to get a roll of copper strapping but I heard about cushioned versions and wanted to hear what everyone's thoughts were.

Is it illegal if I cut a copper pipe with a hack saw?

I have a 3/4 I need to cut and add an hammer arrestor to but there is a 1/2 line right next to it. I can't get a cutting tool to cut around it

So I have MPI right now but my next show that SHOULD start this week. I'm at 300 hours for my current eligibility period. I'm hoping my next show starts in time and I don't have a lapse but I wanted to know what people think I should do if a lapse happens.

Is there anyone at IATSE or MPI I should contact about getting a grace period? 40 hour weeks will start till August.

If I have to have a month lapse, what do people do that gap? COBRA?

Edit - Thanks everyone! I called MPI and it looks like I might as well just roll the dice with the lapse for a month and if I need to make a claim then I can pay out of pocket and then sign up for Cobra and it will cover retroactively.

Okay my algorithm is feeding me the idea of putting 100+ feet of black hose on my deck and sending pool water through it as a cheap way to heat the pool.

Has anyone here successfully done it?

I'm in so cal with no heater but I do have a solar cover.

I was thinking of getting a 1/2 HP sump pump so I don't have to risk doing damage to my pump or mess with my flow
