Ugh.

I fully recognize that the majority of United passengers with 1K status are probably men. Statistically, I’m sure there’s a reason the line looks the way it does.

But I am so tired of men stepping in front of or even better, stopping to ask whether I’m sure I’m in the right boarding lane.

Why is it your responsibility to confirm?
Yes . I am.

This mid-forties, jeans and Nike dunks wearing woman standing here knitting is, in fact, a 1K passenger. I didn’t accidentally wander into the velvet-rope section while looking for a craft store.

I’ve started asking: “Why did you step in front of me?” or “What made you think I wasn’t in the right line?”

The reactions are fucking gold.

Gentlemen, you do not need to verify my boarding credentials. You can simply assume the woman already standing in line knows why she’s there.

Now go take your rightful spot in line, right behind me.
