Data center lawsuit

Data center lawsuit

Here’s the link: https://katu.com/news/local/lawsuit-filed-against-hillsboro-washington-county-over-data-center-tax-breaks-billionaire-environment-company-fortune-500-oregon-portland-salem-politics-business-jobs-water-privacy

It turns out, our CEO mayor of Hillsboro, Beach Pace, and other council members sold us working class people and our kids’ futures to data centers.

I had heard the Hillsboro school district had to sell land and property to cover their millions of dollars worth of budget cuts and everyone called me crazy when I said they would try to develop data centers on it. “They wouldn’t do that to our kids!” You don’t think these wealthy people that leverage their political power for financial gain CARE about the average Joe?? Cristian Salgado who we didn’t ELECT because the council APPOINTED him? We didn’t vote for him.

The reality is, these politicians aren’t the issue, it’s the system that gave them authority in the first place. The system isn’t broken, it’s working as intended and it needs to be replaced with something better. We can’t keep planting the same seed, expecting a different crop. That’s why it’s important to show up to these meetings! And if you don’t want to do meetings, change the system so it’s not reliant on that.

New police station

Really think about it. A $90 million police building is being constructed; they just broke ground. Police that started as a way to catch escaped enslaved people. The Hillsboro School district had their budget slashed by $20 million last year and more this year, to the point where they sold district property and land, which is now going to be used for data center development.

Our mayor, who has influence on where they allocate money, decided a police building would be a good idea. At the same time, her wife, Jincy Pace, is a commander on the force. That’s a textbook conflict of interest.

Police do NOT prevent crime, they react to it. A 2008 Supreme Court case ruled the cops are there to “protect and serve”, they’re here to “enforce laws.” Well did you know the admin is pushing to label opposition to data centers and AI as “domestic terrorism”? Meaning the police could show up and arrest people for opposing data centers and AI.

A good alternative would be something like the CAHOOTS program they used to have in Eugene, Oregon, where they hired more mental health experts and medical responders to handle 911 calls cuz it’s better to send them to a mental health or medical emergency than a cop with a trigger happy cop.

We should be more angry that they’re wasting our money on cops that don’t do anything instead of funding the schools our children go to! Cuz at the pride event, there was a hate group that illegally bear maced multiple people, including children. The cops could’ve prevented that by kicking them out, but chose to let them stay. So yeah, they didn’t do their job.

City council meeting 7/7

My other post on the other subreddit was deleted by the mods for “pushing an agenda”, so I’m gonna try again.

There’s going to be a city council meeting on Tuesday, 7/7. We NEED to show up. Even if you’re not going to give testimony, get to know your neighbors and community! Soooo many members are dedicated to staying up to date on the local stuff.

A few meetings ago, on 6/6, Cristian Salgado of the city council started live steaming to his Facebook, even though the city streams and posts it on their YouTube page. One of our community members printed out all the unprofessional, condescending, disrespectful comments Salgado had been posting and allowing online. We saw Salgado blow a kiss at one of our community members, Antonia, leading to community uproar. The city council president, Rob Harris, was telling Antonia (T), to sit down and refused to do or say anything about Salgado, who was yelling “prove it!” And “go tell the police then, they’re right there.”

The council appointed Salgado, so he didn’t EARN his position, no one voted for him; the position was GIVEN to him after Beach Pace left her seat vacant after becoming mayor. The council admitted they have no power to remove him, so we have to wait for next election cycle. Salgado also removed his livestreams, which caught the SOUND (cuz his camera was pointed at the crowd) of something, almost a smooching sound. At the last city council meeting, he asked “where does it show in the minutes that I did that?” When the city of Hillsboro has STILL not released that footage and has edited it out, along with the lead up.

We NEED people to show up! Some people will spend multiple hours on their tv and won’t spare an hour to attend something that’ll affect their lives and their children’s lives. Don’t be most people! Be better!!!

Pride celebration 6/6

I was at the pride celebration on Saturday 6/6 where I saw a group of maga people walking around with offensive signs, yelling hate speech, and harassing attendees.

They flagrantly broke the code of conduct you can find here: https://www.hillsboro-oregon.gov/home/showdocument?id=30816&t=638526635419179791

“By entering this space, the City requests that you voluntarily agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

  1. You will not engage in behavior that intimidates, torments, disturbs, or threatens a person on any basis including age,
gender identity, sexual orientation, ancestry, color, disability, nation origin, race/ethnicity, religion/creed.
  2. You will not engage in demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior or speech, including but not limited to personal
insults, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ageist or ableist language or any language that insults or demeans the
characteristics of a person protected under U.S. federal, state or local law.
  3. You will avoid any bullying including repeated verbal abuse; verbal, non‐verbal or physical conduct of a threatening,
intimidating, or humiliating nature; or the sabotage or undermining of a person's performance.
  4. You will not engage in boisterous, lewd, or offensive behavior or language that disrupt this event.
  5. Participants who are asked to voluntarily stop their behavior will be expected to comply immediately. If an attendee or
participant continues to violate the code, the City of Hillsboro may take whatever actions it deems lawful and appropriate.”

The protestors eventually ended up illegally bear macing multiple people, including children (which you can see in the first pic), and got no sort of consequence by the police. I, however, was banned for 90 days by officers Ricky Ruelas, Ryan Ward, and Annette Hernandez (pictured above in order) because I snatched one of the protestors phones, ran off with it and chucked it over the fence.

The police failed to do their duty, yet they’re getting a $20 million expansion and $90 million (it used to be $70 million) of OUR taxpayer money to “fight crime more effectively” when they’ve show they couldn’t stop a crime under their noses.

Eugene, Oregon had a VERY successful program called CAHOOTS, in which they hired more mental health experts and medical responders to handle 911 calls and rarely needed police intervention cuz most emergencies don’t require them. Police are trained to treat everything like an attempt on their life to “protect themselves” as seen with their trainings.

Hillsboro should invest in agricultural work and revolution, healthcare, education, elderly care, and childcare.

Fourth of July

I see/hear lots of celebrations here in Hillsboro every year, but I genuinely don’t understand. Maybe cuz I struggle with social cues as an autistic person, I don’t know. But why do y’all celebrate a country that, by its own definition, is the biggest t*rrorist nation in the world? The US fought to break away from England cuz they wanted to keep the institution of chattel slavery. England wanted to ban it, not cuz they cared about Black people, but because they saw the US making SO much money, they had the ability to break away from England. That’s why they were taxing Americans so much.

Even now, the US is heavily persecuting immigrants and the people who stand up for them. Black African and middle eastern soccer teams are being heavily searched and I believe the Iranian team (might’ve been Iraqi) was asked to leave immediately about 2 hours after their game ended because people felt uncomfortable.

So again, why do people in Hillsboro pay to burn their money to celebrate such a nation? Or is it easier to make excuses and not think about it than it is to reflect? Cuz that just sounds lazy and unintelligent.

City Council meeting 7/7

At the last council meeting, only 2 council members showed up in person following the incident with Cristian Salgado. They discussed POTENTIAL disciplinary action, which they stated at the beginning, and admitted they don’t have the power to remove him from his position as a council member, which doesn’t make sense because they have the power to appoint him. Cuz remember, WE didn’t vote for him, the council appointed him to fill Beach Pace’s seat after she became mayor.

The council tuning in through Zoom says a lot because it gives them the ability to just mute the public if they go past their 3 minutes. First of all, they have a responsibility to listen to their constituents, no? Only giving us 3 minutes to speak every other week is ridiculous. If they don’t want to listen to us, what’s the point of the council? Second of all, we KNOW they’re not gonna actually listen to the working class people; they’re still going to act based on THEIR financial/political wellbeing. Such as when Beach Pace met in private with contractors WITHOUT journalists present. So much for the transparency she always preaching 😒 but it’s not surprising when you take into account that she’s a CEO that earns $148 and receives around a $2k raise annually.

In other words, they don’t want to be held accountable. They don’t want to have to face the frustrated working class that gets screwed over by their decisions, such as the millions in tax breaks that Intel receives. They don’t want to deal with our anger at them for siding with data centers or for calling them out their bs, such as “taxing data centers more”, which is trickle down economics and doesn’t stop our resources from being wasted.

We NEED people to show up to the council meetings who are willing to stand on business. The council is scared and they SHOULD be. They’re scared of losing their positions of authority that have given them financial security. They’ll try to make us THINK we’re getting somewhere by SAYING all these nice things, but when it comes to their actions, we can see VERY clearly that they don’t give a flying fuh about us.

City council meetings

I have been showing up to the city council meetings for a while now. The one on 6/16 was adjourned early because a community member printed out all the disrespectful and unprofessional comments Cristian Salgado had been making and handed them out to the council members, which he livestreamed and has since deleted or made private. Salgado was APPOINTED, not ELECTED; he didn’t EARN his position, it was given to him. We the people didn’t elect or vote for him.

I and other community members saw councilor Cristian Salgado blow a kiss to one of the female community members and we called him out on it. He started yelling “prove it then” and “go report me then. Look, the cops are right there.” The police proceeded to do NOTHING cuz “they didn’t see it” 💀

He was live-streaming it from his perspective so you can’t see him, but he unknowingly caught the moment in it. You hear a smooch sound, then Antonia, his target, gasps and stands up to call him out. I have the clip from HIS livestream where it happens, but it’s since been deleted and/or made private. Let me know if you wanna see it.

Council President Rob Harris is ALWAYS calling out members of the crowd; us, the working class for being “disrespectful” when we have reasonable, human reactions to their lies, such as when Beach Pace tells us the HPD is getting a new $90 million building paid for by OUR money to “fight crime more effectively” when they did nothing to prevent multiple people, including children, from being ILLEGALLY bear maced by a maga crowd. Yet that day, he got mad at Antonia for standing up and “interrupting” when she called out that he blew a kiss. Rob has no problem trying to keep us working class community members in check, yet he doesn’t apply the same standards to council members. The council voted to adjourn early and reconvene the following Tuesday (6/23).

Only 2 council members chose to show up in person (Kipperlyn Sinclair and Olivia Alcaire), but the rest tuned in over Zoom, which is worrying. They’re setting the precedent that these meetings will be done virtually, which makes it easier to infringe on our free speech and protects them from having to face the frustrated community. For example, they muted Antonia for reading comments being made about her that Salgado was allowing on his posts about her cuz they had bad words. Antonia said she didn’t have the privilege of avoiding those comments, so neither does the council.

Salgado at one point asks “where in the minutes do you see the alleged action”, when the City of Hillsboro EDITED that part out and has NOT released the footage of it or what led up to it even now.

Back to the meeting, they discussed POTENTIAL disciplinary action against Salgado, such as removing him as a representative for Hillsboro, removing him from committees, and cutting his stipend. The council admitted that they don’t have the power to remove him; the voters have to vote him out NEXT election cycle. In other words, they have the power to APPOINT people like Salgado to positions of authority, but not REMOVE them when they become a problem.

That is just the system working as intended. At every meeting, I turn my back to the council because I’m there to speak to the ones who have the REAL power; the WORKING CLASS 🔥🔥🔥

There’s a meeting on 7/7 and we NEED to show up. Even if you’re going to speak, at least get to know the community because they know a LOT about things going on in local government. We gotta stand together and we won’t be able to if we don’t even get to know each other.
