Volvo V50 T5 Manual AWD Driveshaft issue / availability

Good evening,

I never thought that I would have to incur this expense to find a solution to my driveshaft problem.

A couple of months ago, when I was replacing the clutch and flywheel, I checked both driveshafts and found that the front right one was starting to fail. I then checked the schematics/drawings and found the correct Volvo reference numbers for my car: 36000556 and/or 36000447.

I searched for an original part on Skandix, but to my surprise, this specific driveshaft is discontinued according to their website. I thought this must be an error, so I contacted my Volvo dealership. Same result.

I guess that if there is no original part available, I may have to find one from an external manufacturer.

But again, no luck. Every compatible driveshaft is discontinued, and with every day that passes, my driveshaft is shaking more and more.

I've had this car for almost two years, and I've invested almost the same amount as I paid for the car to keep it in perfect condition, but now I seem to have hit a brick wall.

Even used driveshafts can't be found — probably because most people prefer to sell the entire AWD system, as it's in high demand.

I have also contacted many resellers, manufacturers and refurbishing shops, but this specific driveshaft seems to be as elusive as a unicorn.

Perhaps someone on this forum is facing the same problem, or even better, has found a solution to it.
