Building something from scratch has been surprisingly rewarding.

A few days ago, I decided to start Beyond the Campus because I kept seeing people say they wanted to meet new people but didn't know where to start.

Since then, I've had conversations with people from different backgrounds, heard their stories, and realized that many of us are looking for the same thing from a genuine sense of connection.

We're still at the beginning, but seeing people interested in building something together has been incredibly motivating.

What's one thing you'd want from a community like this?

What’s stopping students in Dubai from meeting outside their university?

Is it lack of time, interest, or just no platform for it? I’m trying to understand if students would even want cross-university hangouts like coffee meetups ☕, sports 🏏, or social events 🎉.

If you had one free Saturday in Dubai, how would you spend it?

Imagine you have the whole day free and a budget of AED 100.

Where are you going?

Looking for ideas beyond the usual malls and cafés.

Anyone who find it difficult to make friends as a student in Dubai?

I'm a student in Dubai, and one thing I've noticed is that making genuine friends outside your own university isn't easy.

Most of us go to class, head home, and repeat the same routine. Even in a city full of students, it can still feel difficult to meet new people or make plans for the weekend.

So I've started Beyond the Campus—a student-led initiative to bring students from different universities together through casual meetups, sports, coffee chats, city walks, and other social activities.

The goal isn't to create another group with thousands of inactive members. I'd rather build a small community where people actually get to know each other and enjoy spending time together.

I'm still in the early stages, so I'd love to hear your thoughts.

A FEW QUESTIONS:

* If you're a student in Dubai, what's the biggest challenge you've faced when trying to meet new people?

* What kind of meetup would you actually attend first—coffee, sports, beach, board games, study sessions, or something else?

* What would make you want to come back for a second meetup?

I'm genuinely looking for ideas and feedback.

Building a student social community across Dubai

Hey everyone!

Building a social community for university students across Dubai. The idea is simple—help students meet new people outside their own campus and make genuine friendships.

A lot of us only know people from our own university, but there are thousands of students from different universities in Dubai who never get the chance to connect.

I'm planning to organize casual activities like:

☕ Coffee meetups

🏏 Cricket and other sports

🎳 Bowling nights

🎲 Board game evenings

🏖️ Beach hangouts

🍔 Food meetups

🎉 Social mixers

📸 Weekend outings and events

The goal isn't anything formal—just creating a friendly community where students can meet, hang out, build networks, and have fun.

If you're a student in Dubai:

What kind of events would you actually attend?

Any ideas or suggestions to make this community better?

If you're interested in joining, drop your Instagram @username in the comments (or DM me if you prefer). I'll create an Instagram group with everyone who's interested so we can plan our first meetup together.

Looking forward to meeting people from different universities and building a fun student community! 😊
