Would you vote for politicians supporting a rent freeze?

Would you vote for politicians supporting a rent freeze?

It is often shocking how far to extreme capitalism we have gone over the last 30 years. I chalk it up to everyone misunderstanding the movie Wall Street - "Greed is good"

Recently 2 million people who live in NYC received the news their rent will not be raised for up to two years.

The counter argument is "the policy could gradually push older rent-stabilized buildings into disrepair by depriving landlords of revenue needed for capital improvements."

-- That doesn't hold water to me and I am wondering if y'all feel the same way?

I paid $685 for 2BR apt in Raleigh from 1993-2001 with final rent being $785. That apt now goes for $1700.

It was built in '84 and since I have left they have added Covered garages to generate even more revenue. It seems to me at 42 years old this property would have paid for itself over at least twice on a 30% margin.

With depreciation and the ability to write off capital improvements should they not be able to afford a two year rent freeze?

I am open to both sides, and I would like to hear your opinions.

It is just as I drive by my old Apt I think how I was able to save up $$$ to buy my first house and now that same person probably cant.

Would you support a politician who proposed some type of rent freeze even if it was allowed to go up 2% a year?

What do you want Roy Cooper to fight for?

This is not a bash Roy Cooper post, but it is... What are we actually going to demand from him post.

I have watch several interviews and his answers are always the same weak sauce Kamala Harris was serving up. And he would be losing if he wasn't going up such a weak opponent.

His Issues page is nothing more than bullet points and in regards to healthcare; his plan is going back to the Obamacare which was better then we had but is still just a massive give away to the insurance companies.

Points 2, 7-9 just prove he has no plan for a medicare for all or even a public option.

I see no mention of only running one term... No mention of fighting for term limits. No mention of banning Insider trading. No mention of supporting a billionaires tax, which at least would help solve our long term debt issue. And no mention of getting rid of the SS cap so everyone doesn't have to work until their 70 to get Social Security.

Check it out for yourself, shouldn't we demand more from this guy then just give him our vote because Whatley is worse.

What policies would you like to see Roy Cooper really get behind? If you are under 50, what do you want to see all NC politicians running on?

Do you want Gov. Stein to push for higher taxes on Millionaires are they are in Maine?

Maine increased the top rate by 2% for people making over a million dollars. NC state has about 20k people which report over a million on their income taxes alone and they pay 49k each now.

Would you be for or against a politician who supported raising taxes on people making over 1 Million a year?

To match Maine's rate of 9.9% the wealthy would have to pay an extra $50k in taxes on a million in income based on today's NC tax rate of 4.9%.

20k x 50k is a billion.

Should Gov. Stein and others push to match Maine's rate to bring in another Billion dollars a year?

Do you feel NC politicians should final say NO to a 1.5T Defense Budget?

We are about to elect/reelect 14 House members and a new Senator.

Do you want them to finally say no?

This budget includes a US version of Iron dome which has proven to be penetrable. It includes money for a new class of battleship, technology went obsolete for warfare decades ago. 84 F-35 jets at a time when Ukraine is wrecking havoc on Russia with swarms of 50k each drones.

There is good; a 7% raise for e-5 and below, but I don't want both sides to use that as cover for voting for the bill.

Honestly, do you want our congressional delegation to finally say no or do you see this as good investment?

Below is a recent Article about the destructions drones to a US naval base with great before and after shots. The US can still wage war without spending all this money is my point. Or head over to r/combatfootage and see how little it costs to wage war now against a former super power using conventional weapons.

Born after 1970 -- You might want to become a single issue voter

Both sides have kicked this can down the road to protect their donors. And after years of refusing to simply remove the cap in which the wealthy stop paying SS tax, it is finally here.

The govt is saying by 2032, people getting SS benefits will get a cut and people born after 1970 will have their Full Retirement age raised to 69 or 70 depending on which GOP plan you are looking at.

It is a simple change, remove the cap. If you make over 184k a year you just keep paying the 6%. That is it.. this one simple fix.

If someone make 500k, they will only have to pay an extra 18,900 in taxes on that 315k taxed. Meaning they will have to survive on only 290k, but it also means millions of American's won't have to work until they are 70.

Do you really want to work until you are 70?

Do you want to get laid off at 62, and still have to work until your are 70 instead of 65 just so the rich can keep 6 extra pennies on the dollar.

Demand more folks...

Trickle down didn't work, time to try something different.
