I have a music video shoot in Kansas. Let's assume there's $1,000 actor budget to get people to attend as background actors for a party scene. I'm afraid if I open the invites to friends of the band, the outcome will come off as unprofessional. Should I approach the band and just say, "hey, lets try and avoid the friend zone with this project and hand select a bunch of people who will fit the look we're going after." If so, what's the best strategy on a smallish budget?

Hi all! Let's presume I'll be recording a narrative film with a boom arm and shotgun microphone. Is it always best to distance the microphone as close as you can without getting in the shot or is it good technique to distance the microphone to match the camera distance from the subject. For example, let's say the subject has a long monologue and the camera slowly dollys back away from the subject. Should the microphone also move backwards with the camera?
