r/MetalMemes
The most beatiful depiction of childhood I've ever seen in culture
Probably the dumbest thing I've made in a while.
Me Omw to enter my full bank card details, full home and ip address and social security number because ‘luclemay69’ told me he’d give me an mp3 file of ‘Obscura 2 - It gets obscurer’
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Regarding the future of this sub
Given recent developments in the scene and the declining quality of this subreddit, we have sadly come to the conclusion that r/MetalMemes has run its course, as the "Metal scene" itself has splintered, gotten gentrified and absorbed into wider Mainstream culture.
If you've looked into the comment sections of posts recently you will have already noticed that 90% of the comments are clearly either bots or glorified top 40 pop listeners (sabaton, ghost, Acid Bath ETC), and the few who dont fall under either of those two categories are also usually self described as regular "music nerds" who also listen to false artists such as Lingua Ignota or Chat Pile, rather than actual Metalheads.
After a lot of internal debate both in the mod team and the last surviving remnants of the actual "metal scene" we have come to the consensus that the elite have managed to destroy any last bit of non-mainstream culture and arts, using the death of ozzy osbourne and the advancements in AI technology to deal the killing blow to the final piece of human art and culture.
This has led to a lot of us to spiral and give into capitalist demands, as what little hope we had was dashed, half of the mod team has already cut their hair and gotten an office job with palantir or Meta.
We will be closing this subreddit for good on the 21st of August 2026, and hold an internal funeral for Alternative Culture.
It was a pleasure rocking with you but the future is bleak, i hope you will understand this decision.
REST IN PEACE HEAVY METAL, THE LAST WARRIOR IN THE FIGHT FOR CULTURE
