How much do NBA team subs bleed into r/nba? I tracked every commenter to find out & r/Thunder leads all teams by a wide margin [graph in comments]
I pulled comment data from Reddit's API across all 30 NBA team subreddits and r/nba from April 10, 2026 to today. For each team sub, I calculated what % of its unique commenters also left at least one comment in r/nba during the same window.
r/Thunder leads at 48% crossover.
Most subs cluster between 31-38% crossover.
Running the same analysis on NFL and MLB team subs, crossover rates into r/nfl and r/baseball sit between 8-18%. NBA fans are way more likely to engage with the main sub regardless of what team they follow!
