What If I Resign and Then Fail BGV? (Contract Role, No PF Record)

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working in a contract role and am expecting an offer letter from another company in the next 1–2 days. However, my background verification (BGV) is still in progress.

For my current job, I don't have a PF account, but I have honestly provided all my employment details, including HR and reporting manager information.

My concern is whether I should resign after receiving the offer letter or wait until the BGV is completed.

I'm worried that if I resign and later the BGV fails for some reason, the company might revoke the offer and I could end up without a job.

I also have another question: since I have provided my HR and reporting manager's details, will they receive verification emails/calls while I am still employed, or does that usually happen only after I resign or join the new company?

Has anyone faced a similar situation? How strict is BGV for contract employees when the employment details are genuine but there is no PF record?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
