What the title says; is there a way to get my money back or is it gone forever?

Hello, I live in a hamlet in a rural Ontario community. I had been under the impression that industrial animal farms were not allowed to be built so close to communities like this (only 2km away from us). My family believes someone was paid off in order to approve the operation being built so close to the hamlet. Is there any recourse? Is there anything I can do? I'm not sure where to even begin (I have 0 background in law), any advice/next steps would be extremely appreciated. Thank you!

I've registered for convocation, bought tickets, etc., but still haven't been informed if my graduation has been approved. My friend in Fine Arts got confirmation last week so I'm getting worried (I'm in ASFA for reference)
