1 rejection, 1 waitlist, and 1 acceptance later.. I'm gonna be a PA! I canceled the rest of my interviews, but both programs that I am waitlisted for and accepted to start in January so I'm curious at what point would you personally move on from the waitlisted program and start securing an apartment? It's my top choice for sure, but at the same time I think I want to just finalize my decision by like Oct/Nov idk especially knowing how competitive affordable housing can be.
This whole application process has been overwhelming and I'm grateful either way to be done. Good luck to you all!
What's the norm for clinical sites/rotation radius? The program I'm accepted to listed a 75 mile radius for clinicals and after talking to recent graduates I can assume that a few of my rotations will probably be 60-70 miles away, which works out to like 1-1.5 hours ish one-way. Can be out of state to NYC, but that one wouldn't be terrible for me because I do have family out that way.
Is it also normal for some rotations to have two sites? A student said their week is split between two clinics/offices for the ob/gyn rotation and I guess I don't really know what to expect for the clinical year haha
I got my acceptance call today. I'm going to be a PA! for the past few years, I've held numerous hands as my residents & patients passed away, I've laughed with my residents and listened to their life stories, I've been thanked by so many for caring for them when nobody else has.. but I've also been screamed at, kicked, punched, had plates of food thrown at me, I get blamed by pts and families for being too slow to call lights when it's only me for all 25 pts, and overall the bad days outweigh the good lately. I am so excited to get away from bedside care for a bit. only 5 more months and then I'm out. to those that are also pursuing nursing, PA, med school, or looking to leave healthcare altogether.. it will all be worth it in the end!
I know I'm very fortunate to already have 3 interviews for this cycle, but I'm terrible at interviewing (big rambler when I have to come up with answers on the spot..) and having to do two back to back in 2 weeks makes me so nervous. the one I just received will be in person and literally the day after my very first interview. if you've been in a similar situation, please tell me it'll be okay hahah. everything just feels so real now lol now I gotta stress about interview prep, what I'm going to wear/bring, and begging a coworker to swap shifts with me :')
