I’m a detrans woman and public figure who writes about detransition for various publications. I’m currently working on a piece about detransition/misgendering kink, and would like to interview some people who engaged in it prior to actual detransition. The degree of anonymity is fully up to you. I’m 5’1 and was 9 years old the first time I was told I have “childbearing hips.” I was already at or near tanner stage 5 when I was put on testosterone at 14, and then had a mastectomy the summer before I entered high school so I could have a “normal” high school experience as a “boy.” that’s what my doctors said to my parents to convince them. they were asked if they’d rather have a “dead daughter or a transgender son” and presented with statistics I now know to be biased and false in front of me. I was never suicidal, they were just saying that to overcome my parents’ hesitation. I was never going to have a normal experience of anything as a boy, because no one was ever going to see me as one. it’s such a cruel and untrue thing to say in any circumstance, but especially when you’re talking about someone whom you are condemning to a lifetime of constant visual “othering.”
