I had been dealing with insomnia for around 5 years now, but I never saw a doctor until 2 months ago.

Throughout these 5 years, I tried everything. Having better sleep hygiene, taking sleep supplements, doing meditation and the list goes on. Sometimes they worked, but I was never able to get consistent good sleep even when my habits were optimised. I was able to get by with naps and extra time in bed on weekends, but 2 months ago I decided I had enough and went to see a psychiatrist.

I was put on 15mg of mirtazapine nightly and it has literally changed my life. I don’t find myself waking up in the middle of the night anymore. I used to get a deep refreshing sleep only once in a blue moon, but now it’s almost everyday that I find that I feel energetic the whole day.

Deciding that I needed help actually gave me a new lease on life. To everyone that is struggling on their own, I just hope to tell you that it is okay to seek help and doing so might change your life forever
