Any spelling and pronunciation rules?

Bonjour! I'm feeling a bit discouraged by French spelling. I just can't figure out how to say most words (I'm pretty much a complete beginner/A1 level). I know French spelling isn't ever entirely phonetic, but I've only learned phonetic languages before, aside from English which is my native language. However, I'm already a sh*t speller in English (ty spell check!!!) as my brain is phonetically oriented. Any videos or easy guides which don't have too much jargon for some commons spelling to pronunciation rules in French? The more straightforward the better! :) Merci beaucoup!

Learning Canadian French

Bonjour! I'm an American and want to learn some basic conversational French for traveling in Canada, especially for Quebec. I don't really have much interest in learning French French (no offense). I know English has resources for America English and Spanish for Latin American Spanish, but I'm struggling to find resources for Canadian French. Does anyone know of resources? I'd rather learn Canadian French from the get go instead of learning the differences later.

Also, any dictionary suggestions? Finding Google translate isn't always correct.

Merci beaucoup!!

Cat allergies: How long do shots and LiveClear food take to work?

I've always wanted a cat and finally broke down and am fostering one as a trial. He's the sweetest thing in the world and I desperately want to keep him especially as he's older and they've having trouble finding him a home. Please know that I am not just doing this on a whim. I have done tons of research. I started shots about two months ago and I'm already having less of a reaction, but I'm still getting an itchy throat and some bumps on my arms when I pet him and cuddle with him (I used to have tons of congestion and have trouble breathing, but I don't have that anymore). I also started him on LiveClear food but it's only really been four full days and he's not quite transitioned to it (at about half of it and half his previous food).

I'm curious for those who have tried this:

  1. How long do shots take to really kick in?

  2. How long does the LiveClear food take to really work?

  3. Any other advice besides lots of vacuuming, washing of sheets, a cat free bedroom, etc. etc.?

I KNOW the most logical thing would be to not get a cat, but I really want one and there are so many who need homes. I have the means to give him a good life if I can get these allergies under control.
