Bike messenger lunch
This is one of my favorite lunches if I’m on the streets all day and I catch a run to the U of P Hospital / CHOP area. The Korean bbq beef shortrib and kimchi burrito from the Tyson Bees food truck at 33rd and Spruce. They do a Korean and Mexican fusion menu.
Delicious Korean bbq beef, kimchi with nice crunchy red cabbage in it, some kind of crack sauce, and rice. All wrapped up in a giant burrito.
Also there’s big sprigs of cilantro in it, like banh mi style. And every time I’ve ever gotten this burrito, the cilantro is very fresh. Not one wilty sprig in like 20 years of going there. To me that’s an important indication of pride and quality.
It’s a box truck with graffiti style bees painted on it. They’re always there. They’re always friendly. It never takes too long. I can’t say enough about them, honestly. On a busy courier workday I can be running a serious calorie deficit and this thing sets me right up.
I vaguely remember that the edamame tacos are also good. But the burrito is my lady.
