Camping Trout Route

A buddy and I are going to do a trip next week, Tuesday-Saturday. We’ve been backcountry camping the past three years and have hit lots of crown land and operating/non-operating provincial parks. I’d say we’re probably a late-beginner to intermediate skill level (done some really rough portages, but have little experience with very long trips and very long portages).

We also love to fish. Originally, we were gonna do a trip somewhere we know (we’re gonna do a lighter trip with some friends, but they dropped out), but now we want to try something new. I would really love to hook into my first trout this summer. We’re located in the general Toronto region, so we’ll be going north of Algonquin (or Algonquin region).

Probably willing to go as far as Temagami. Any ideas? Ideally non-operating parks that allow camping because we’re uni students, but we’ll splurge for permits if necessary.
