I was staying at my relatives’ house when they started criticizing what i eat.
They looked at my plate and said, “Eating only animal products is unhealthy. You’re going to get sick and waste all your money buying meat.”
Meanwhile, the table was full of fried foods, sugary drinks, instant noodles, and food cooked in tons of seed oil.
Part of me wanted to point it out immediately.
I kept thinking, You’re calling my food unhealthy while eating processed stuff and deep fried foods in seed oil every day?
But I knew starting an argument at someone else’s house would only make everything worse.
So instead of attacking their choices, I calmly said:
“I’m just trying to focus more on simple foods, easy to cook, and less processed stuff.”
I didn’t try to “win” the conversation anymore. I just realized that everyone grows up believing different things about food. What seems normal to one person can seem strange to another.
In my head, though, I couldn’t ignore the irony. They were warning me about health while constantly eating foods that made me feel sluggish and tired whenever I used to eat the same way.
That moment taught me something important: people will often defend what feels familiar to them. Sometimes it’s less about facts and more about habits they’ve had for years.
So I just focused on being respectful, eating what worked for me, and avoiding turning dinner into a debate.
Funny thing is after they ate their foods they’re always laying down 😐
I have a really bad eating habit, then i saw the carnivore diet, then i said, well lemme give it a try, and now I’m thriving for 3yrs
