hello! i am a beginner at hand quilting, but have embroidered and done sashiko for a while. my mother is a beautiful machine quilter. i am wondering if we can do a quilt that would be a hybrid— with her machine, she would sew a simple flying geese topper. then, rather than using a long arm to finish, i would hand quilt the top+batting+bottom in a sashiko-ish style. has anyone tried doing it this way, or do you think it would/would not work? any thoughts? thank you kindly!
