Extra luggage capacity on crashbars

Inspired by the awesome looking XSR from Aya moto adventures, I was looking for some extra capacity and found these 3L rollbags from LS2. Lots of loops on the side to attach them to any crashbar and they come with two straps to secure them. Best part is they are only €20 each.

I just mounted them on my RD moto crashbars to try them out. Really happy with the fitment and how they keep the centre of gravity low. I did mount them a little higher after taking these pictures because I noticed they were hanging lower than the footpegs... Don't want to scrape the bags in corners!

The 5th picture shows the current setup with 2x20L panniers and a 10L bag on top. The extra 6 liters of capacity is a nice upgrade for camping. With 50L I had to pack pretty light/minimalistic.

Would love to see your luggage setups aswell!

DIY modification: 2cm increased seatheight for tall riders

Update; Instead of lowering the footpegs, I found a way to raise the seat! I'm really excited about this mod and I think my fellow tall riders will appreciate this too because it increases leg room without having to give up any cornering clearance.

It's very easy to do and requires a minimal amount of parts, money and time.

I simply raised the two mounting plates (as shown in the purple circles). I started out using nuts and washers as spacers to experiment with the height. When I found the exact height I wanted, I printed a pair of spacers in PETG. The printed parts are optional of course but I think it looks a lot cleaner than a collection of nuts and washers.

While I was at it, I changed the angle of the seat a little bit. I am using an xtribute seat with custom foam and it had a bit of forward lean to it. That's why I raised the front of the seat by 20mm and the rear by only 11mm, to compensate for that. It's now pretty much level. By using a lower riser in the rear I probably also lost a few millimeters. The average increase in height is now probably 15 or 16mm.

Of course you can experiment with these heights and find out what works for you. If your seat doesn't slide forward, you can just go for a 20-20 setup. You could probably go even higher than I did, but be aware that the rear end of the seat is already 'floating' above the rear hoop with the 11mm riser in the rear. I'm not sure how the raised seat will handle a pillion. You might want to add some type of support between the bottom rear of the seat and the frame hoop if you ride two up.

I do recommend raising the rear mounting plate by at least 11mm, otherwise it won't fit properly. As you can see in the green circle, there's a small piece of metal sticking out pointed towards the rear. This used to sit under the metal bracket behind it. You need to raise it by 11mm for it to sit on top of the metal bracket.

I also bought some longer hardware. For my configuration I needed 6*30mm (front plate, 4pcs) and 6*25mm (rear plate, 4 pcs) hex bolts.

Bit of a long story, I hope the pictures clear things up. If you have any questions, let me know! And if you decide to try this mod, I'd love to hear your experience.

Lower footpegs?

Has anyone tried some? I'm looking to decrease the angle of my knees, as I'm 6'4/193cm. I already mounted the xtribute seat for a tiny bit of extra height.

Hoping to find another 1-2cm in the pegs, without compromising the lean angle. I've already removed the stock pegfeelers 3000km ago. I can now ride to the edge of the tire without scraping anything, so I guess there is a little bit of clearance left for lower pegs.

Not looking for an adjustable race rearset, because they always come with those tiny machined footpegs. I like to stand on the pegs when riding a gravel road so regular or allroad pegs are preferred.

Question number 2; which bikes have footpegs that are compatible with the xsr? I've been looking around and a lot of webshops claim they don't offer anything for the XSR. Yet when I click on the MT-07 they suddenly have options. I'm pretty sure the MT-07 pegs are identical and compatible. Maybe the Tracer 700 pegs too? What else am I missing? This would help searching for alternative options.

Pics for attention 😊

[Edit] Lots of comments about that first picture. Thanks for your concern guys, but it was not my intent to start a discussion about my riding posture.

I was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction to find lower footpegs and/or share your experience with them. I've seen some lowered pegs on AliExpress but I feel like that might be a bit of a gamble in terms of quality for such a critical part?

Adding images to a reply?

When I write a reply here I'm not allowed to add a picture (but I *can* add a video for some reason?!).

I believe this is a setting that the moderators can change, but maybe there is a specific reason for the current settings?

On all other subreddits I can add a picture to my reply. You know how they say "A picture speaks a thousand words". I'd love to have the option to include a picture in my reply and I can't imagine I'm alone in this.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this and maybe a moderator can add this option, or explain why we can't post pictures in a reply.
