My current setup for light touring

My current setup for light touring. I also threw in pics of the bike with the gear unloaded 😅. I currently have the Piranha Dart Flyscreen, but I'm still debating whether to upgrade to the Marlin for better wind coverage. Lmk what you guys think.

Clutch engagement, help!

Noob question here. Never thought I'd catch myself asking for help on here, usually I'm the one giving the answers but here I am at your mercy, lol.

My MT has been down for a bit and it's receiving a few new parts including a new clutch lever, cable, and clutch arm.

My problem: something feels off about getting the adjustment right. It just feels way stiffer than it should be. Either it's stiff but I feel like thats where the engagement point is, or I get it where it feels more correct but it seems way too short.

Can anyone post or send me a picture of where their clutch arm at the engine case is static, and where it is when the clutch is fully disengaged? I feel like I'm missing something but I don't know what. My friend's MT's clutch is effortless with his 1FNGR clutch lever. I have a similar lever (Sicshop) and can't get anywhere near that butter feeling without feeling like the clutch isn't engaged. Bike is still apart in other areas so can't take it for a test ride. TIA

Safe to bump start the XSR700?

Hey guys! Got a 2018 XSR700 and I've been thinking aboute practicing bump starting the bike. Never done it before so I figure it would be a good idea to try this so I know what to do whenever I get a dead battery. But is it safe to practice this? Can it cause any problems if done 10-20 times in a row?

Riding with luggage and a passenger on Xsr700?

I searched fair bit of internet looking for any information about side bags for xsr700 being/ not being a problem when traveling in pairs and couldn’t find sufficient information. Is it a given that side bags do not obstruct passenger’s position? Do you have any recommendations for the bags?

Are y'all topping of your tanks when you fuel up? And other fuel/tank capacity questions.

I feel like I'm gassing up pretty frequently. I typically remain very cognizant of the fuel economy as I'm riding and try to ride mostly in very fuel-efficient ways. And I know the tank is not huge or anything, but I feel like I'm hitting gas stations just a bit more often than I should have to? Idk.

I don't insert the fuel pump all the way into the tank when fueling, and stop pumping gas when the auto-stop is on the fuel pump is triggered, and when I look in the tank the fuel itself is visible towards the top of the tank and seems to be pretty high up, and my fuel meter on the bike always reads full after. But then it just seems to deplete rather quickly.

Should I be topping off as much as possible to maximize distance on gas fill-ups?

Also, does the 3.7 gal tank include the reserve as well? Or is the reserve additional to the 3.7 gal tank volume? My sense is that 3.7 gal MUST be tank and reserve total.

And when the fuel meter is flashing and starts its own odometer, does that mean I'm using the reserve tank at this point? Because I'll fill the tank to the pump's auto-stop when I get to that point, and it'll only take like 2 gallons or so. Does that mean there are 1.7 gallons left once the fuel meter is flashing?

Maybe I'm just riding more than I realize. I'm also a new owner of a '26, so maybe I'm just getting used to the new bike still.

Thanks!

Issue with: LedPerf light pointing at the sky on XSR700

I have installed LedPerf lights on my XSR700 but a pin that seats the standard light bucket is in the way. Does anyone know how to deal with this? Preferably in a non destructive way

Speedometer Relocation

Hi everyone, I'd Like to share this little project with you.

I bought the Gilles bracket to move the speedometer from the handlebars. A few days before I had mounted the Yamaha windshield. Unfortunately I realized that the two components are not compatible but I didn't give up.

The Gilles support should be mounted on top of the relay resting on the lighthouse, I mounted it underneath by adding a thickness, in this way I recovered some space. I mounted the display but it touched against the screw... so I created a flare for the screw and reassembled it.

The dome didn't mount yet but I was almost there; so I added a spacer on each screw between the dome and the bracket and finally everything went to its place.

The display is now much more visible without looking away from the road, I have freed up space from the handlebars where I can put the smartphone when I need the navigator and I find that aesthetically everything is more amazing.

Extra luggage capacity on crashbars

Inspired by the awesome looking XSR from Aya moto adventures, I was looking for some extra capacity and found these 3L rollbags from LS2. Lots of loops on the side to attach them to any crashbar and they come with two straps to secure them. Best part is they are only €20 each.

I just mounted them on my RD moto crashbars to try them out. Really happy with the fitment and how they keep the centre of gravity low. I did mount them a little higher after taking these pictures because I noticed they were hanging lower than the footpegs... Don't want to scrape the bags in corners!

The 5th picture shows the current setup with 2x20L panniers and a 10L bag on top. The extra 6 liters of capacity is a nice upgrade for camping. With 50L I had to pack pretty light/minimalistic.

Would love to see your luggage setups aswell!

TKC 80’s or TKC 70 Rocks?

Purely for aesthetics. I don’t ride off road, barely ever on gravel tracks, just want my bike to look cool. I’d have gone for the TKC 80 gen 2 but apparently they’re not making them in sizes needed. Opinions?

Roadsitalia exhaust on Euro 5 bike?

Hi guys,

anyone here has or listened to the Roadsitalia Thunder on a Euro 5 XSR700?

Seems on the Euro 4 models, these exhausts are quite loud even with the No-Noise DB killer. But what about the Euro 5 models?

Cheers!

Chain Cleaner

Hello!

Recently got a barely used 2025 XSR700 with the OEM O-Ring chain still on. For lube I am torn on regular gear oil or Maxima’s chain wax, but the more pressing part for me is the cleaner itself. I heard kerosene could slip through the o-ring and may harm the grease inside. However according to an old FortNine video, there were some other cleaners that failed a penetration test he performed, being Motul, Maxima, and regular kerosene. So, needless to say, I’m kinda spooked unless that test is inaccurate. What stuff do you guys use to clean chain prior to re-lubing?

Where to search for upgrades

Hello! I‘m a new XSR700 (2019) owner and completly new to motocycling.

I wanted to switch the old headlight for an LED one and put one of those meshes on them but i can only find replacements for XSRs who where built after 2022.

I‘m living in germany so it should be parts where i don’t get into trouble with the law.

Any help would be appreciated!

Oil pan screw broken.

So… like a muppet I managed to snap one of the oil pan screws by over tightening and wanted to know how easily a professional can remove what’s left of the screw in the crank case? Am I doomed to have an oil leak forever or is it pretty straightforward?

DIY modification: 2cm increased seatheight for tall riders

Update; Instead of lowering the footpegs, I found a way to raise the seat! I'm really excited about this mod and I think my fellow tall riders will appreciate this too because it increases leg room without having to give up any cornering clearance.

It's very easy to do and requires a minimal amount of parts, money and time.

I simply raised the two mounting plates (as shown in the purple circles). I started out using nuts and washers as spacers to experiment with the height. When I found the exact height I wanted, I printed a pair of spacers in PETG. The printed parts are optional of course but I think it looks a lot cleaner than a collection of nuts and washers.

While I was at it, I changed the angle of the seat a little bit. I am using an xtribute seat with custom foam and it had a bit of forward lean to it. That's why I raised the front of the seat by 20mm and the rear by only 11mm, to compensate for that. It's now pretty much level. By using a lower riser in the rear I probably also lost a few millimeters. The average increase in height is now probably 15 or 16mm.

Of course you can experiment with these heights and find out what works for you. If your seat doesn't slide forward, you can just go for a 20-20 setup. You could probably go even higher than I did, but be aware that the rear end of the seat is already 'floating' above the rear hoop with the 11mm riser in the rear. I'm not sure how the raised seat will handle a pillion. You might want to add some type of support between the bottom rear of the seat and the frame hoop if you ride two up.

I do recommend raising the rear mounting plate by at least 11mm, otherwise it won't fit properly. As you can see in the green circle, there's a small piece of metal sticking out pointed towards the rear. This used to sit under the metal bracket behind it. You need to raise it by 11mm for it to sit on top of the metal bracket.

I also bought some longer hardware. For my configuration I needed 6*30mm (front plate, 4pcs) and 6*25mm (rear plate, 4 pcs) hex bolts.

Bit of a long story, I hope the pictures clear things up. If you have any questions, let me know! And if you decide to try this mod, I'd love to hear your experience.
