what’s a normal/good tip for a nail tech?

i’m getting my nails done for probably the fourth time in my life tmrw ahead of a holiday, and i’d like to tip whoever in the salon does them. it’s a file/polish and a shellac, abt 35 minutes for the whole appointment. i do get tattooed pretty often, and every second time i’ll tip my artist €20 (she’s the only person i go to, and our average session is about an hour).

i don’t want to be condescending and tip too little, but the cost for the service is about €35-€40 so for my own wallet i don’t want to tip too much either. i work in food service so i probably won’t be back for about a year until another holiday lol. tia!!

q about items in the gift shop @ collins’ barracks museum

long shot of a lifetime, but i was up at the national museum yesterday and after a good two hours spent pouring over the exhibits and displays, i did what any other twentysomething would do and beeline for the gift shop.

there i found some of the coolest bits and pieces ever, and back home i immediately starting regretting not putting more strain on my wallet for the sake of some really brilliant irish bits and pieces.

the bits and pieces in question were a small stand of stickers (most notable were the pink, glittery sheela na gigs and one especially fun “celtic bimbo” number, and a little carousel of lovely shamrock-shaped keyrings with stuff like mná and éire written on).

the stickers were €5 a piece so i passed on them at the time, but i don’t think i can really resist. they did not appear to me as being something the museum organisers produce themselves directly, so i’m praying someone somewhere might have a line on the creators and their shops?

i’m from down waterford so a quick nip up to get them isn’t wholly realistic but i’m also not above it. the dead zoo lab was still up and running on the ground floor and it was one of my absolute highlights of the day, plus the changing ireland exhibit was so well-curated we could barely budge from it.

if anyone has any notion what i’m on about and could point me in the direction of the original creators, i would be eternally grateful!! ignoring the idea that my elders are right about it being stupid purchases that are keeping me out of the housing market for the time being

books to bust a reading slump?

i’ve not touched a book all month and it’s driving me cracked. i’ll read anything (nonfiction, romance, historical, scifi, fantasy) except young adult. my past favs have included the luminous dead, starving saints, matrix, unbroken, chain gang all stars and our wives under the sea. if you’ve got any particularly gripping recs to hand i would be unbelievably grateful 💔
