I am stuck

I feel stuck, I have no idea why, I have the gear, I have the references and ideas but everything sounds whack. So this is what I am trying right now.

30 Days, 1 hour everyday, Export no matter what.

I have seen this idea on an older post ok this sub and thought I'd try.

If y'all have any tips on how to get our of this feeling, that doesn't just stick for the day, but weeks, I would love to hear them :)

And if you are or were in the same position, maybe this is worth a shot.

Whats the trick with arrangements?

Hey yall,

i have been trying to make music for a while now and also shifted towards more technoid music and i am at a point now, where i can regularly create patterns that satisfy me, where i feel like it is interesting enough to listen to it for hours. This is a point where most advice sais that you have enough for a whole track. So then i move into arrangement, but that is where it all falls apart, somehow i cant translate the magic of the pattern and elements that i made into a coherent arrangement, that flows nicely. Especially since i am trying to steer away from the drop based arrangement and music. Whenever i come around to listen to other tracks that i try to be in the style of (examples: Chlär, Bailey Ibbs, Planet Rhytm, Mutual Rytm and such) i feel like i get there arrangement and how it is achieved, but as soon as i try to replicate it i seem to forget everything, or rather, it doesent feel complete. My head sais, do another change, add another thing, you need more interesting things.

As you can hear, i am a bit lost.

So, what is your takes on making arrangements? How do you not get carried away and eventually overcomplicate everything? What is your way of achieving an interesting arrangement that is fluid enough for live environments?

Cheers

Dopplereffekt

I acquired ableton now and am trying out what it can do (alot)

It's fun to play in a daw for a bit, my ultimate goal is to have a hybrid setup that combines the immediacy of my hardware and the possibilities of the software.

All tips are appreciated :)

How did that happen? (A release)

This is it, my first release and I am beyond stoked that it was possible to release it together with raving in johannesburg. The people that have seen the pieces of content I posted were able to watch a bit of the process that went in to making a Digitakt only live set and with it the four songs that were released. With that I would like to thank the people on here for the kind comments, although they might not seem like much, but they did give me the confidence to pull through with this project and submit my tracks. To be honest I was very surprised when raving in johannesburg got back to me with the plan of releasing the project, but they did and I couldn't be happier about it. And now there is not much more to say then enjoy the songs. I'll keep working on music and see where it takes me.
