I made my Elektron Model:Cycles look hard as fuck.
Took a LOT of effort, but I'm proud. Had to download that model samples outline and then carefully edit it to make sure it matched the cycles instead, and then fill merge layers selectively with the Fleurs Du Mal or that New Order album cover... Go to the university library with it and carefully try to get the scaling right to print on the adhesive vinyl machine. Also carefully used some black paint pen. I love this thing.
Not sure if there is a subreddit for jam room aesthetic? But thought I’d post these…
I made my jam room out of my son’s old bedroom which is just a tiny cot room. We got these nice shelves for displaying books on from B&Q (large hardware chain store in UK) and I realised today they are great for displaying my now ever growing kit when I’m not using them!
I dunno I just kinda geeked out on how ideal they are. 2 for £15 too which isn’t so bad. I’m going back to get some more, as soon as asap.
Grandmother and moog stack - just jamming
I’ve been interested in an MPC Live since the model II came out. Now the III is out and has a sequencer I’m battling with selling my 707 to help fund one. I have a tr-8s too but love the idea of an all in one (semi) portable box. Convince me not to sell up and get one.
Set the instruments in motion. Listened then followed the current.
Like breathing, this was autonomic and volitional.
I’ve been trying to build a DAWless setup similar to taetro’s portable setup . I am trying to make my ableton move the master clock that feeds the tempo to the zoom L6 mixer (for delay effects) and the sp404mk2, all while being able to control the ableton move with my akai midi controller. Whats the best midi hub? and which are the best connection cables considering the type of cables I’ll need? (USB c vs. 3.5mm trs vs. USB a vs. 5 pin)
As for audio flow, I want to feed the ableton move and the seperate sound module of the Akai mpk play mini into the L6 mixer along with other instruments, then use the aux send channel(s) to feed to the sp404 for live sampling, effects, misc sounds and samples to then feed back into the mixer to a front of house mixer. What problems could I run into trying this audio flow?
Any and all feedback is appreciated as someone who had strictly used laptop and DAW for almost everything I’ve made for the past 7 years.
Assembled in Baltimore with parts scavenged from the midwestern crash site of a '90s ska band. I had a really good time making this one. The corniest bits are usually my favorites.
Let me know if you have any suggestions, critiques, or questions.

Semi-improvised techno live setup with Octatrack, SP-404MK2 and TB-03: breaking down my routing, machine settings and how I use improvisation to turn prepared grooves and loops into a different live set every time.
Enjoy!

Right before summer travels I have my compact studio for me.
Because many have asked, the full setup is:
iPad, OP-1, Ugreen USB-C hub, Ugreen audio adapter connected to the hub, USB-C cable connection to powerbank or power adapter.
Fits into a neat small bag.
App is GCS model 8.
Nothing significant was recorded but I had a good little solo jam session. Finally got the right power supply for this mixer/interface in and getting used to its idiosyncrasies.

Hey there! I am new to the dawless process, been using an Ableton Move in combination with a field recorder + live instruments for about 2 months now. still learning all this but i can already tell that i want to stay dawless and expand my arsenal.
I want to upgrade my setup but am unsure of which direction to go in, and don't have enough money to just try multiple. The main issue with using the move right now is that i want more effects/live mangling, more control over arrangement and mixing live, and more tracks. From what i have heard, the Octatrack is largely an answer to my problems, but i want something spontaneous and that doesn't take a lot of setup during the process (more then happy to learn and spend the time reading the manual/setting up template, but if i just sit there during the creation process setting up a channel, i might as well be in a daw).
The Move's major plus in my opinion is how simple and spontaneous it is. Can the Octatrack also be spontaneous, after proper learning and setup? or would i be better off with using another sampler (Tonverk or Torso S4, though i have heard they can be slower/latency) and running that into the move? is there some sort of magical tool or combination of tools that suits my needs?
Thank you so much for any help, and have a good one!
edit: most of what i record is live insturments (my piano & guitar) rather then synths and other midi gadgets (which are more occasional)
To begin, I'm not a video editor or anything of the sort. I'm just in an experimental pop duo. I just want to show insight into the process of how we make our music (improvisations, cut-up lyrics, in-studio experimentation). I merely place cameras in the room, ignore them while we do our thing, then try to make YouTube videos on DaVinci after the fact.
This particular video tries to show how we mixed our song using a Tascam Portastudio. I used our performance footage taken from previous videos, and I labeled them according to the fader they belong to. Added a lengthy video caption to explain the process, but also put on-screen text at spots.
How does the concept come across?
