New cameras with "free 6 month" plans

Minor vent warning.

For existing customers, be careful with any of these cameras - they will move you off older previous/cheaper plans if you paid for one already. And there is no way back. Not an issue for new users, which I guess is what they care more about at the end of the day.

Connecting the new camera to my existing setup overrode my existing plan with the "free" one. I don't recall even having a confirmation dialog to opt-in or opt-out of this "free" plan when adding the camera via the mobile app.

The problem is, I already had a yearly plan that I paid for, with more than 6 months remaining - and all that was basically lost. I spoke to Arlo support and they said it was "impossible" to move me back to my older, cheaper plan. And none of my payment would be refunded.

I had to negotiate an appropriate "future" discount that was actually monetarily fair to me after my pro-rata calculations. This was meant to be automatically applied, but months later I found out it wasn't - another round with support.

Thanks for lending me your virtual ear. I hope others out there that have suffered the same issue have gotten themselves a just resolution, which for some may be no longer paying for a subscription at all.
