My alternate ending for G4

I've previously said the actual ending had broken my heart and soul very badly, and that it nearly made me to never see MLP the same way ever again, all of it because I couldn't accept the fact that Twilight would outlive her friends due to her nature as an alicorn princess. Since a lot of producers from the show, including Lauren Faust herself claimed Twilight wouldn't outlive her friends, or at least, not live forever as an immortal being. I was heavily inspired by the ending of Avengers: Endgame to write this (which in my opinion it should of been the final chapter of the MCU).

So this is my personal way as how I visualize G4 should have ended:

You may take this as a post credits scene of the whole series.

Time pases, years go by, Twilight is now the sole official ruler of Equestria, she succeeds, theres peace everywhere. The rest of the mane 6 are still there for her when she needs them, although they have their own duties with their personal lives. Her time in the throne since the final episode isn't specified. But a day comes, where she realizes she needs time for herself as she has accomplished her mission to bring balance to her world. So she now needs to pass the tourch on someone. You may think her succesor would've been Luster Dawn, her apprentice, but in this case, is the closest person who has been by her side even before she met her mane friends. Spike, who knows her better than anyone else, has solved problems and fought by her side on almost every battle and never left her, even after the rest of the mane got mad at her for yelling at Pinkie in the 2017 movie. Besides being like her little brother figure, and even like an adopted son. He had the heart of a pony besides being treated sometimes like an outcast. He showed us that even the most hostile lifeforms can have feelings and empathy. So all of this makes him more relevant in comparison to Luster Dawn, as she was introduced barely introduced at the series finale.

Spike is now crowned as the new ruler of Equestria, with everyone present. From my perspective, he deserved even better than being the royal advisor of Twilight, he is really adorable and lovely, and for being the main male character of the show, he should've shined even more, since Tara Strong herself had made jokes about Spike being abused in the first seasons. Spike is definetly my 2nd favorite character of the whole franchise. Twilight knows he's the best person she can count on, since he was her right hand since the very beginning. And besides, if he was crowned as the next ruler instead, I think this would make justice for breaking the perjudice that the show is purely girl power while the male characters are mostly background, now that Equestria has a KING.

Twilight leaves for her retirement after Spike's coronation, but she goes back into scene to meet the rest of the mane six, who are evidently older than in The Final Problem, but not necessarily in their old age, but for their surprise Twilight is even older than any of them, and even more, she is back into her unicorn form. Now they all share the life expectancy, after she decided to sacrifice her wings in order to spent her final years among them. They ask her what happened to her, and she tells them, during her retirement, she decided to go back to the human world through the mirror, to recover something very special for her she forgot.

The scene then cuts to the Equestria Girls world. Twilight is dancing in the arms of the one and only person she ever had a crush on: Flash Sentry, who, despite their apparent broke up during Rainbow Rocks, Flash still cared for her in the following movies and felt a deep emptyness when she didn't come back. Their home has pictures of her and him in company of the mane 6 human counterparts, including Sunset Shimmer and Sci Twi (I know this might be controversial point for many of you fans, a lot of the fandom despised Flash as a love interest for Twilight, but judging him for being hard on Twilight while he was being hipnotized by the sirens isn't fair at all. When these two first met and partially fell for each other in the first EG, I totally loved it, Rainbow Rocks onwards ruined it for me. Flash was important for Twilight and as he the initial moral reason to go back through the mirror, just as the human manes) In this case, there is a reflection between this and the final scene with Avengers Endgame, where Steve decided to retire, going back in time to stay with his original love interest, Peggy Carter, who was left waiting for him for seventy years, and since he barely met her again in his original timeline, when she was now in her nineties and already losing her mind. Steve got the ending he deserved. So in this version, Twilight came back to the human world, she and Flash got reconciled, they got married and now lived in a happy life. In the final scene, they are dancing in a house with a lot of shelves full of books, and a giant telescope, just the way she used to live when she first arrived at Ponyville. Twilight sees the stars through the telescope, while she touches her stomach, as she is expecting a child after feeling a movement inside her womb, she in now pregnant, while Flash hugs her from her backside.

The sun sets outside their home.

The end.

I know some of you may disagree with my alternate ending, but I must remind you I felt totally heart broken after the actual series finale, as asuming the fact Twilight would outlive her friends was something that terrified me since the episode Magical Mystery Cure. Since 2019, I came accross a terrible wound that wouldn't heal easily, and went through several emotional crisis through all of 2020, which hurted me even more than all of the tragedies and regrettable events during that year. MLP FiM was so much more than a show to me, and leaving the show with such an opened ending about wether she would outlive them made me to feel like it killed everything that made this show special for me. So I wrote this to heal myself and move on. After reading this, we could either decanonize G5, or even connect this to the actual canon in an alternate way.

In my headcanon this is the real ending of MLP FiM.

This might be the last movie (I Am Legend) showing a videoclub store filmed while Blockbuster was still in business.
